Job description

Position Summary

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) Associate to join our team. The MEL Associate role is pivotal in managing and analyzing data to inform programmatic decision-making and organizational learning within the Nomi Network. The ideal candidate will have experience in working with data sets, qualitative research, and a keen interest in leveraging AI for innovation in monitoring and evaluation processes.

Location: Remote

Reports to: Global MEL Sr Manager

Schedule: Full-time, non-exempt

Status: Non-exempt

Salary: $53,000-$57,000

Travel: Employee is expected to travel up to 3 times per year

Responsibilities

Monitoring System Development Support:

  • Assist in setting up and revising data monitoring systems, including tools like Salesforce and Excel, to streamline program data collection and reporting.
  • Assist in developing and revising MEL workflows and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) that align with cross-organizational frameworks
  • Provide guidance and troubleshooting support to domestic and international program teams to ensure effective use of monitoring systems.
  • Ensure data quality and refinement of data processes. Work with the staff to ensure compliance.
  • Explore and implement innovative tools and approaches, including AI, to improve efficiency in data management and analysis.

Data Collection And Analysis

  • Clean, organize, and analyze quantitative and qualitative data to assess program effectiveness and produce actionable insights.
  • Create clear and compelling data visualizations to support internal and external reporting needs.
  • Contribute to the design, implementation and analysis of data collection tools such as surveys and interview guides to gather meaningful program feedback.

Organizational Reporting

  • Assist in preparing routine program and grant reports (monthly, quarterly), ensuring timely and accurate submission to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Support the development and implementation of robust data quality assurance processes, including spot checks and refinement processes to improve accuracy and reliability and ensure best practices for data integrity.
  • Contribute to the creation of detailed evaluation and research reports for internal learning and external dissemination.
  • Collaborate with teams to align monitoring and evaluation practices with the organization’s Theory of Change.

Team Collaboration

  • Support teams to monitor and report on grant initiatives through development and use of tools and templates.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure data systems meet organizational needs.
  • Support capacity building by training team members in data collection and system usage.
  • Collaborate with team members to identify areas for improvement and innovate solutions to streamline processes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent relevant work experience, plus 2-3 years of additional experience.
  • The ability to work with raw data and a demonstrated eagerness to learn.
  • Proficiency in working with data sets, including advanced Excel tools and familiarity with Salesforce or other CRM platforms.
  • Fundamental skills in data analysis and visualization.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience designing and analyzing client feedback surveys.
  • Experience with qualitative research methodologies.
  • Interest or experience in exploring AI applications for monitoring, evaluation, and learning.
  • Familiarity with data quality processes and grant reporting.

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer in a home office environment.
  • Ability to travel up to 3 times per year for in-person meetings, retreats, or staff events, which may involve extended periods of walking, standing, and carrying luggage or materials.
  • Must have reliable internet access and an appropriate workspace for remote work.
  • Ability to communicate effectively through virtual platforms, including the use of video conferencing and digital communication tools.
