Requirements

The Youth Ambassador (YA) Program provides an intensive and experimental three-week leadership development exchange program for youth (15-18) and adult youth leaders from Latin America, the Caribbean, and the United States. The Group Lead for the Youth Ambassadors Program in Haiti (YA Haiti Group Lead) supports international exchange activities for 15 participants per year (13 youth and 2 adult mentors) and works with CIED staff and partners in Haiti and the U.S. to recruit, review, select, and prepare YA participants for travel or virtual exchange programs depending on the modality approved by the Department of State. For travel programs, responsibilities include meeting participants at the U.S. point of entry and accompany them during a three-week travel exchange in the U.S., working with the host community partner, supporting program activities, coordinating health and safety incidents, and communicating with CIED staff to provide program updates and relevant information. For virtual programs, responsibilities include preparing participants for use of online platforms and tools, participating in virtual sessions, supporting facilitators and participants, and serving as English/French interpreter as needed. The duties of the YA Haiti Group Lead, as assigned and supervised by the Youth Ambassador Director, include but are not limited to:

  • Support the recruitment, review, and selection of program applicants in Haiti.

  • Support the preparation and onboarding of participants for travel or hybrid/virtual exchanges.

  • Manage the group and group dynamic of the participants during travel or hybrid/virtual exchanges.

  • Communicate with stakeholders to ensure the successful implementation of the program and to diagnosis any challenges or issues.

  • Troubleshoot challenges that arise with participants or programming as needed.

  • Provide English/French language translation and interpretation as necessary.

  • Provide program highlights, participant impact quotes, and activities report.

  • Administer YA program surveys, analyze results, and provide summary survey reports.

Work Interactions

The YA Haiti Group Lead is an integral part of the staff team at CIED managing the planning, implementation, and reporting of the Youth Ambassadors Program. The incumbent reports to the YA Program Director and works with partners in Haiti and the U.S. to ensure that the YA Haiti exchange program is planned and implemented successfully and in full compliance with the YA program goals, Georgetown University policies, the terms of the governing agreement with World Learning –the YA federal grant prime recipient, and Federal regulations pertaining to the program. Key tasks are coordinating with key program stakeholders such as Department of State, U.S. Embassy in Port-au-Prince, World Learning, and partners in the U.S. and Haiti, as well as with the program participants and their families to facilitate the implementation of the YA program in Haiti and the U.S. The goal of the YA program fulfills Georgetown University’s mission to prepare global citizens to lead, serve, and change the world.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's degree and 2 years of required experience (or commensurate experience)

  • Extensive knowledge of Haiti and experience working with Haitian youth participants

  • Excellent English writing and communication skills are required. French proficiency required, Haitian Creole proficiency appreciated

  • Understanding of cross-cultural communication and management

  • Experience in education or leadership development with youth (adolescents)

Pay Range

The projected hourly pay range for this position which represents the full range of anticipated compensation is: $25.97 - $31.73. Compensation is determined by a number of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s individual qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, as well as the University’s business needs and external factors.
