Your Impact
In this role you will focus on developing market-based solutions for enabling decarbonization in commercial buildings and partner with stakeholders to deploy and scale these solutions.
You’ll be part of RMI’s Carbon Free Buildings program, which is working to build and power our homes and businesses without fossil fuels. The Carbon-Free Buildings Program is the largest building decarbonization advocacy program in the country, with over 70 team members. We work in efficiency and electrification, new construction and building retrofits, residential and commercial, in policy, finance and embodied carbon. Most of our work in North America, however we also work in India and China. Regardless of your background or level of experience, you will have the opportunity to help bring about change in the world that you might not find anywhere else in your career.
Major Roles and Responsibilities
Support owners of large commercial building portfolios develop investment roadmaps for decarbonizing their buildings.
Innovate, further develop, and scale decarbonization enablers for commercial buildings, such as steam generating heat pumps and procedures for rightsizing heating equipment.
Provide research and techno-economic analysis of a range of current topics.
Present quantitative information in a clear, visual format for public consumption, such as for white papers, journal articles, and RMI publications.
Core Skills and Experiences
Bachelor’s degree + 4 years of relevant commercial buildings work experience OR a M.S. degree in a related field + 2 years of relevant work experience.
Strong problem-solving, research and writing skills.
Alignment and commitment to the mission of encouraging carbon free buildings as a key element of addressing climate change.
Desired Skills and Experiences
Experience with building energy modeling, audits or commissioning, and life-cycle cost assessments.
Knowledge of the state of the industry regarding commercial building retrofits.
Location:
We are a remote-ready company with team members around the globe. Our beautiful and welcoming offices are available for meetings or focused work, whether you are traveling through or living nearby. Our U.S. offices are in New York City; Washington DC; Oakland, California; Boulder, Colorado, and Basalt, Colorado.
We provide you with the essential IT equipment plus a one-time home technology payment and a monthly work from home/commuter allowance to ensure you have a comfortable home office set up and necessary supplies.
We love seeing each other in person! We occasionally gather for shared time together like retreats and learning experiences. Be ready to travel for occasional in-person meetings (and of course, we cover travel costs). Some roles may require more travel, which will be discussed during the hiring process.
Compensation:
RMI compensates based on the level and requirements of the role. Salary within our ranges may also be determined by your education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as required by the role, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. The salary for this role is in between $84,000.00 to $103,000.00. You would also have an additional 5% bonus target!
