What You Will Be Doing: 


Reporting to a VP of engineering, the Manager of Software Development will have responsibility in leading one or more software development teams in designing and developing application software. They will partner with the product management team in understanding business requirements, create and maintain technical design documents, create/maintain and perform unit test cases. This individual will work effectively with other managers, mentor developers assigned to them, and identify effective and efficient solutions for technical problems.


Responsibilities: 


  • This individual will interface with Engineering, Security, Operations leadership, participate and contribute to design analysis meetings and perform code reviews.
  • They will provide technical training as assigned.
  • Recruit, hire, mentor, and coach Software Development Engineers at different levels of experience.
  • Lead a combination of onshore/offshore development personnel for assigned areas.
  • Work with the product team to ensure the teams have accurate and understood requirements.
  • Manage organizational deliverables, allocating assigned teams, leveraging team and individual skills and experience to ensure source code quality and on-time delivery.
  • Work with SCRUM teams for managing work items including providing estimates, evaluate feasibility, help with requirements definition.
  • Review and provide any required input needed for setting priorities, scheduling releases.
  • Help establish and oversee developer adherence to RegEd engineering standards.
  • Ensure best practices are followed, provide documentation for the process, and look for ways to improve process where needed.
  • Drive improvements in software engineering practices.
  • Provide KPI based on RegEd Engineering delivery schedule.
  • Use independent judgment to identify complex problems and recommend solutions to solve them.
  • Continuously learn about the product/industry as well as how the changing technologies might be impacting the product, monitor overall performance and stability and look for areas of improvement.


Must Have: 


  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent (related work experience can be substituted for educational requirement).
  • 7+ years’ experience in application development; SaaS or Web development experience.
  • 2+ years’ experience as manager or team lead.
  • Demonstrable experience and advanced knowledge of C#, .Net Framework, .Net Core, Service Oriented Architecture, Microservices, Containers.
  • Experience with Secure Coding practices and performing code reviews.
  • Knowledge of industry standard patterns and practices.
  • Agile software development methodology, Application Lifecycle management background.
  • Experience with Visual Studio, Git, Atlassian Suite (JIRA, Confluence), Azure DevOps (Server/Services).
  • Able to provide individual and team-based training.
  • Able to communicate clearly and effectively to peers and senior management.

The compensation range for this position is $125,000-$185,000.  RegEd's compensation package is based on each candidate's unique skills, qualifications and experience.  Where an employee or prospective employee is paid within this range will depend on the employee’s/applicant’s background, pertinent experience and qualifications.  The total compensation package also includes our comprehensive benefits package, vacation time, sick time, volunteer time and parental leave.
