POSITION SUMMARY

As a Senior Data Science Production Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the seamless operation and optimization of data-driven solutions supporting various Natera’s products. Collaborating with lab operations, lab directors, product, data scientists, and assay development teams, your primary focus will be on utilizing SQL and statistical methods to analyze, interpret, and enhance the performance of Natera’s production assays.

This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the advancement of healthcare diagnostics through the application of data science methods, with a focus on supporting assays and ensuring the quality and reliability of assay data. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Production Support:

  • Collaborate and interface with Lab Operations and Product teams to identify process issues, and assist with thorough root cause analysis, and product support.

  • Provide data-backed analysis quickly to Lab Operations to unblock production issues and improve patient results turnaround times.

Data Analysis and SQL:

  • Utilize SQL for data extraction, transformation, and analysis to support the interpretation of assay results.

  • Collaborate with data scientists to perform statistical analysis on assay data, providing insights for continuous improvement.

Statistical Modeling:

  • Build anomaly detection models that monitor process metrics for deviations in product performance.

  • Apply statistical models to analyze and interpret data generated from assays.

  • Collaborate with data scientists to develop and refine statistical models for predictive analytics.

Collaboration with Assay Development Teams:

  • Work closely with assay development teams to understand the scientific and technical aspects of assays.

  • Provide data-driven insights to optimize and improve the performance of assays.

Query Optimization and Performance:

  • Optimize SQL queries for efficient data retrieval and analysis, ensuring timely and accurate results.

  • Collaborate with database administrators to enhance database performance.

Documentation and Training:

  • Document processes, and best practices for supporting assays and data analysis.

  • Provide training to relevant teams on utilizing SQL and statistical methods.

QUALIFICATIONS

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in statistics, engineering, computer science or equivalent

  • 3+ years of experience in data analysis and modeling

  • 3+ years of experience using Python/R for data analysis

  • 3+ years of experience with a database query language such as SQL

  • Deep understanding of various statistical concepts (parametric & non-parametric distributions, hypothesis testing, probability, regression), and machine learning

  • Experience with version control systems such as GitHub, GitLab, etc

  • Strong communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.

  • Strong Project Management experience

Desirable but not required

  • AWS or other cloud infrastructure experience

  • Desire to learn about human genetics and sequencing technologies

  • Knowledge of data science product lifecycle

The pay range is listed and actual compensation packages are based on a wide array of factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, years & depth of experience, certifications and specific office location. This may differ in other locations due to cost of labor considerations.
