Job description

Job Title: Transition Programme Manager

Salary: CNY 400,000-430,000

Level: 4

Team: Transitions

Purpose:

The purpose of this role is to act as the lead for CBI’s transition work in Greater China, providing subject matter expertise and collaborating with the wider teams across the organization to understand and embed project and programme delivery. Collaborating with various teams across the organisation to ensure all transition-related work streams are represented in Greater China, coordinating and overseeing the involvement of relevant team members.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Programme Management and Research:

  • Lead the development and delivery of the China Transition Programme effectively in accordance with the strategic goals, collaborating with the wider teams across the organization and external partners to ensure quality and efficiency.
  • Design and conduct research and stakeholder interviews as required for reports and other purposes, with responsibility across all stages and acting as project manager on one or more reports simultaneously.
  • In cooperation with the Engagement Lead of China Team, support the stakeholders and local government engagement in Greater China
  • Under the supervision of Team Head, providing leadership and strategic guidance on the development of future CBI work-streams in China and APAC region, including green/transition taxonomy and sectoral criteria development, policy advisory and capacity building activities.
  • Writing up, finalising, and helping to launch reports; proofing/reviewing outputs as required
  • Planning outputs and contributing to proposal writing, as well as helping to prepare budgets where relevant
  • Primary point of contact on China for the Transition and Research Team, which mainly involves producing regional publications, collaborating on other regional projects, and providing data and commentary to the Transition/Research team
  • Presenting outputs and general market analysis, including through webinars and conferences

 

Operational Support:

  • Contribute to the generation of content for CBI’s public communication on transition-related work in Greater China.
  • Acting as a spokesperson for CBI’s transition-related work in the region, by generating media opportunities and giving regular media quotes and interviews on specific subjects.

Financial Management and Planning (10%):

  • Support the operational function of CBI China’s Programme and to increase the overall institutional capacity of CBI in the region.
  • Work with the Finance Team, FPD Team, and PMO to ensure the best possible operating position with regard to income, costs, managing financial affairs for transition-related programme and projects.

Requirements

Essential:

  • At least 4-5 years of relevant experience in climate/sustainable finance, energy/industry analysis, sustainability, or a related field
  • Demonstrated analytical, programme management and communication skill; strategic thinker and a competent public speaker
  • Comprehensive research skills, ideally both primary and secondary
  • Excellent writing skills, in both English and Chinese, covering a range of topics, such as market and policy developments
  • High degree of professionalism; ability to work independently and as part of a team

Desirable:

  • Deep experience and expertise in with financial market regulation and development in China, particularly in the debt capital market
  • Insight and exposure to energy and industrial sectors in Greater China
