Overview:

LMI seeks a skilled part-time Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Analyst to support a federal program management office in a fully remote role. Join our team of collaborative self-starters focused on delivering practical and efficient solutions to help our client keep U.S. borders safe and facilitate trade and travel. As part of our high-performing team, you will augment our vital work to provide “eyes and ears” technology to protect our nation. Some CONUS travel may be required.

Responsibilities:

You will manage geographic and spatial data to support the efforts of a federal program management office responsible for the planning, acquisition, deployment, and management of technologies and infrastructure to protect our borders. This entails collecting, managing, analyzing, modeling, and presenting geographic and spatial data, as well as developing maps at various scales. Responsibilities include:

 

  • Manage, manipulate, and analyze large geospatial databases containing linear infrastructure.
  • Develop visualizations of information for management decision-making
  • Report metrics on project-specific data analysis
  • Develop and maintain an ArcGIS Online portal application for efficient, hands-on geospatial analysis.
  • Perform rapid manipulation of spatial data using field and geometric calculators.
  • Construct SQL search queries to locate, define, and isolate specific features within extensive databases.
  • Utilize feature layers to effectively symbolize and visualize rapidly changing geospatial data
  • Develop and implement industry-standard protocols and procedures for Geographic Information Systems (GIS) applications and services, focusing on data modeling and distribution.
  • Implement GIS project activities, including map production, geospatial data analysis, and development of data layers, with a focus on linear construction considerations such as environmental and real estate issues.
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary team (engineers, environmental, real estate, logistics and other specialists) to conduct required analyses from datasets.
  • Prioritize geospatial requests received from the government, including Senior Leadership.
  • Participate in required planning and coordination calls.
  • Provide periodic update reports to Project Managers (PMs).
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in a geography, cartography, environmental science, information technology (IT), or a related discipline
  • At least three (3) years of relevant experience in geospatial analysis.
  • Relevant experience with data visualization.
  • Advanced skills using ESRI ArcPro or similar geospatial tools.
  • Ability to rapidly provide geospatial analysis, dynamic, and static maps.
  • Strong organizational skills (e.g., time management, communication, setting goals, delegation, working under pressure, self-motivation, analytical thinking, and attention to detail).
  • Working knowledge of remote/virtual meeting environments such as Zoom, Microsoft Teams, and WebEx.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and SharePoint
  • Ability to communicate clearly with a variety of stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated experience facilitating collaboration across multiple workstreams.
  • Ability to effectively solve problems.
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
  • A true team player who maintains a positive attitude in a dynamic environment.
  • Preferred Qualification: Master’s degree in field related to geospatial analysis.
  • Preferred Qualification: Professional certification in GIS (e.g., GIS Professional, Esri Technical Certification in ArcGIS, or similar)

 

Ability to pass a government background investigation, including financial, criminal, residential, educational, foreign affiliation, prohibited substance use, and employment verifications; active U.S. Customs and Border Protection background investigation preferred. Please note that only U.S. citizens are eligible for a suitability determination.
