We are looking for a Director of Marketplaces (Amazon) to join our fast growing Marketplace department. You will play a crucial role in maintaining client relationships (this is a very large part of this job), overseeing marketplace ad strategies, organic content strategy, and ensuring the achievement of client KPIs on platforms like Amazon, Walmart, and more. This role requires a strong blend of account management, strategic thinking, and digital marketplace expertise.
You must have a strong background in Client Services (agency experience is a major plus), Amazon FBA (Strong Seller Central skills/Vendor Central is a plus), and enjoy working in a fast paced environment with the best consumer brands.
This position reports to the Marketplaces department head.
This is a remote job, and can be based within the state(s) of Pennsylvania, New York, Florida, and must have the right to work within the United States.
What you'll do
Client Relationship Management: Serve as the primary point of contact for all clients, fostering strong relationships, understanding their needs, and aligning our strategies to help achieve their business goals.
Strategic Marketplace Leadership: Develop and execute end-to-end marketplace strategies, including inventory analysis and forecasting, goal setting, promotional planning, competitive analysis, and continued optimization.
Lead the development of insight-backed media strategies for Darkroom’s CPG clients on Amazon.
Manage and update our proprietary Commerce Database for Amazon
Manage vendor relationships, including responsibility for helping team obtain relevant estimates, RFPs, favorable rates, value-adds, and information about new products & services.
Keep up to date with, and vet, emerging platforms, shopper media vendors and innovation trends specific to Amazon, and regularly share new opportunities with our clients.
Above all else, you will be responsible for the performance of your book of business on Amazon. Main KPIs will be revenue growth, client retention, and brand specific metrics like ACOS, TACOS.
Performance Analysis and Optimization: Analyze marketplace data to assess performance metrics, competitor identify trends, and drive data-driven adjustments to optimize campaigns.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams, including Brand Managers, Brand Associates, PPC leads and our Creative team to ensure cohesive marketplace strategies and leverage resources effectively. Collaborate with other departments to integrate advertising strategy into overall brand strategy.
Revenue Growth: Identify upsell and expansion opportunities within accounts, contributing to company revenue growth goals.
Team Mentorship: Mentor and lead brand managers and brand associates, sharing best practices and fostering a culture of learning and continuous improvement.
Who You Are
Experience: 5-7+ years of experience in Amazon-specific account management, digital marketing, or a similar field. Previous Amazon experience, whether at an aggregator, agency, or brand is a must. Walmart and other retail media exposure is a major plus.
Education: Bachelor’s Degree required.
Expertise: Proven senior experience managing large client accounts in Amazon and e-commerce marketplaces.
Skills: Strong understanding of marketplace algorithms, digital advertising strategies, data analysis, and KPI management.
Communication: Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate complex strategies and build rapport with clients. Excellent leadership and team management skills, with experience managing diverse teams.
Analytical Mindset: Proficient in data analysis, with a knack for identifying insights and making data-driven decisions
