About the role
The Maintenance Team is responsible for day-to-day maintenance and on-going site support services and maintenance of metering, pay-as-you-go and related IT equipment and for some sites we also are responsible for maintenance of the whole energy network. For example, for a heating system this will be from the heat generation equipment (usually boilers) in the plantroom to the individual dwellings heating source which is usually a Heat Interface Unit (HIU).
The Senior Commercial Heat Network Engineer will support the installation, maintenance, and effective operation of heat network equipment (Boilers, Chillers, Fan coil units, HIU’s, Valves, Meters, PAYG devices & metering systems) deployed within our client’s developments and their customer’s homes.
Following documented workflows & processes and working with key supply partners, the senior commercial Heat Network Engineer will carry out maintenance and repairs on the commercial heating systems, commissioning, commercial gas safety checks and Heat Interface fault detection & remedy and maintenance of heat metering equipment to the domestic heating sector. Much of this role includes working in the built environment on multi- million-pound construction schemes and in people’s homes.
The senior Commercial Heat Network engineer will also support with the development and growth of a team of Commercial Heat Network Engineers, working with the Head of Maintenance to build, develop and provide technical support.
The role is a support function to our Maintenance team and Client Services; the role is a vitally important aspect to maintaining Insite's great reputation for customer service & quality and delivering our ambitious growth plans.
Specific responsibilities include:
- Developing a team of Commercial Heat Network Engineers.
- Maintenance of metering and billing systems and heating and cooling systems.
- HIU and heat meter replacement, maintenance and servicing and retrofitting Pay-As-You-Go metering systems.
Location and working hours:
- Primarily field based in London, with the anticipation that two days a week might be UK wide.
- Office base location: Moorgate, London (WeWork)
Required skills and attributes:
- Valid Commercial & Domestic Gas Qualifications - COCN1, CIGA1, ICPN1, TPCP1/1A, CCN1, WAT1, CKR1, HTR1, CPA1 (Minimum six months remaining prior to renewal of certification). This is not essential but preferred.
- Must hold NVQ level 2 or higher plumbing and heating.
- Desirable to hold NIC 18th edition in domestic wiring (or equivalent) but, not essential.
- Experience and knowledge of heating control systems is also preferred.
- Previous experience in a service and maintenance environment
- Excellent verbal communication skills.
- Experience of writing reports and completing job cards to a high standard
- Confident and experienced in using a laptop/ tablet including inputting and uploading data.
- Experience of building services engineering within district and community heating, or large scale plant rooms/energy centres.
- Experience of working within a service industry.
- Understanding of communal/district heating schemes.
Must hold CSCS card (or able to get one).
- SMSTS or SSSTS H&S desirable.
- Full, clean driving licence is essential.
