Job Description:
This position is responsible for all aspects of Patient Services within the Culinary Service department in the hospital. This role provides leadership and direction related to optimal provision of meals to patients and creating an exceptional experience. This position will oversee daily operations of this service line, implementing system-level best practice standards, organizing and managing quality initiatives, meeting regulatory compliance, managing caregiver productivity, cost-effective service delivery, and realizing customer expectations.
This individual will provide leadership, operational oversight and advise, inform and implement strategic direction for matters pertinent to Patient Services. This individual reports to the Culinary Manager.

- Shift: Monday-Friday exact start time is flexible but should be near 8 am. This position is a manager of a team, there may be times when weekend or holiday hours are required. The incumbent caregiver does work from home 1 day a week

Job Essentials

- Facilitates all human resource functions including: hiring, staffing, mentoring, evaluating, conflict resolution, constructive discipline and termination.
- Responsible to implement best practice, system-level initiatives
- Partners with nursing to meet patients’ needs
- Participates in and aligns services with all department guidelines including food safety, zero harm, goals, continuous improvement and more
- Participates and communicates with caregivers and interdisciplinary committees to share information, resolve conflict and provide excellent customer service
- Participates in all compliance standards relating to regulatory agencies and hospital requirements
- Assists in budget planning, forecasting, and measuring productivity while maintaining a viable financial status.
- Provides value-based leadership to establish high functioning teams and operations in an accountable environment
- Other duties as assigned by the Nutrition Services Manager
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition or Dietetics from an accredited institution. Education is verified.
- Registered Dietitian with the Commission on Dietetic Registration
- Food Handler Permit (as required by State) or ServSafe certification is required by first day of work. ServSafe certification obtained within 90 days of hire date if not current.
- Three years of experience in hospital food service/leadership positions
- Demonstrated effective business skills in culinary industry
- Demonstrated effective verbal, written, interpersonal and communication skills.
- Experience in using word processing, spreadsheet and database applications, internet, social media, email and scheduling applications as well as computerized tracking systems.
Preferred Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience in quality improvement initiatives
- Process Improvement or Project management skills
Physical Requirements
- Interact with others by effectively communicating, both orally and in writing.
- Operate computers and other office equipment requiring the ability to move fingers and hands.
- See and read computer monitors, label and documents.
- Carry, push/pull and walk while transporting food, supplies and service equipment.
- Climb, squat, kneel and lift to clean and reach and retrieve food and supplies
- Tolerate extremes in temperature such as performing work in a cooks station or in a refrigerator.
- Remain sitting or standing for long periods of time to perform work on a computer, telephone, or other equipment.
- May require lifting and transporting objects and office supplies, bending, kneeling and reaching.

The hourly range for this position is listed below. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience.
$34.06 - $52.55
