OVERALL PURPOSE OF THE JOB
The position of Operations Supervisor is responsible for all aspects of safety, performance, resourcing and team leadership for specified operational areas and/or operational processes. Reporting to the Shift Manager, this is a leadership position that has a particular focus on ensuring the consistent application of standards, attitude and behaviours within the team environment, at line and peer group level.
Critical to this role is the ability to plan and coordinate daily activities and hold team members to account. Further this position plays an important role in achieving daily KPI’s and identifying / actioning process improvements, along with engaging support from other functional leads.
PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Ensure daily and weekly KPI’s are updated and reviewed in accordance with MOS
Review and improve processes and ways of working - adopting new methods and approaches as required
Understand the root causes of problems and implement corrective actions
Ensure freight is presented and organised to agreed standards and on time
Proactively manage freight flow and performance interface issues between processes, teams and with other supervisors
Ensure 100% accurate scanning of freight and follow up on any corrective actions for inaccuracies
Ensure that all team members adhere to Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) and safety standards
Model the expected safety behaviours and standards, constantly promoting safe practices and a safe working environment and demonstrate with regular safety conversations and hazard assessments
Ensure all safety incidents are reported and investigated in accordance with the incident investigation flowchart
Review safety performance and issues relevant to your area of the operation – identify, manage and escalate safety concerns. Actively assess / report and deliver corrective actions for risks and hazards identified within your areas of responsibility
Conduct regular toolbox and communication sessions with the team, actively seeking feedback
Ensure that all new starters (permanents and casuals) are inducted and trained to complete the job safely and efficiently – validate the training process for all new team members
Proactively lead the team, setting and maintaining work standards and behaviours, holding team members to account. Lead by example and Put Safety First
Plan and coordinate daily activities, resources and work schedules to meet the operational needs of the site
Ensure resources are available in line with volume expectations, leave requirements and absenteeism
Manage resource and labour cost to optimise productivity and align with volume changes
Apply consequence management and disciplinary processes where required
Work as a proactive member of the site leadership team
Consider the impact on customer at all times
Collaborate and maintain a high level of cooperation with other Team Global Express Business Units on all matters related to safety, service, cost and productivity
