LastPass is looking for a Test Engineering Manager

As a Test Engineering Manager you will lead a group of 6-11 Test Engineers. The test teams are responsible for ensuring quality across a broad range of platforms and product areas. In addition to managing people and overseeing career development, the Test Engineering Manager will be expected to lead and direct quality discussions, test planning activities, and monitor the overall quality health of their area.

If you are passionate about complex problem solving and motivated by scale, then this is the role for you!

Who will you work with?

In this role, you will collaborate with your team members and people across the engineering organization, including technical project managers, product engineering managers, and architects. You will also engage with senior leadership to report on the state of quality in the organization.

As a Test Engineering Manager, you will:

  • Lead and mentor a team of Manual QAs, Software Developer Engineers in Test (SDETs), and Release Managers who are embedded in Agile teams.
  • Ensure the team has the right competencies to deliver their projects.
  • Actively remove blockers to the team’s success.
  • Work with team members to establish and achieve goals while providing continuous quality feedback.
  • Manage delivery and expectations regarding time and quality, working with stakeholders to clearly communicate expectations and needs.
  • Own Test Management and the testing approach for various cross-team projects and initiatives.
  • Guide and support the team through challenging topics and priority shifts.
  • Understand customer pain points, advocate for delivering real customer value, and be the voice for quality.
  • Provide metrics, KPIs, and data-driven risk assessments to senior leadership to demonstrate the maturity level of quality on teams and across projects.
  • Be actively engaged in the full software development release cycle, from requirements gathering to final production release.
  • Promote a supportive, inclusive, and collaborative culture within the Test organization.
  • Work with stakeholders and team members to understand and validate compliance and security requirements.

What are some of the exciting challenges you will be working on?

Technical Leadership:

  • Establish standards around reporting, metrics, and markers of quality.
  • Drive the assessment and management of risks release over release, facilitating clear decision-making on quality impacts to customers.
  • Evaluate and provide guidance on tooling, testing methodologies, and best practices.
  • Shepherd the team through the full test lifecycle, from requirements gathering to post-production release activities.
  • Drive ongoing test automation to support continuous improvements in testing and development experience.

Team Development:

  • Foster the career growth of your team members.
  • Advocate for the team, ensuring their needs are met and their voices are heard.
  • Provide mentorship, guidance, and support to help team members thrive.

Structure and Organization:

  • Bring structure to the team by defining clear roles, responsibilities, and processes.
  • Align tasks and projects with business objectives, prioritizing work for the team.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive successful outcomes.
  • Build a strong internal culture of curiosity and inclusion, aligned with the company culture.
