VitalSource®, is hiring a Senior Marketing Manager (Conferences & Events Strategy) to contribute to our Marketing team located in Boston, Massachusetts (hybrid) or remotely in the U.S. If located in Boston, this is a hybrid role that includes a combination of in-office days and remote work.

You will develop and execute a comprehensive conference and event strategy that aligns with VitalSource’s business goals across all segments. Collaborating with business leadership, cross-functional teams, and external partners, you will spearhead initiatives that drive customer engagement, lead generation, brand awareness, and revenue growth.

Key Responsibilities:

Conference and Event Planning:

  • Lead the development, planning, and execution of a cohesive North American conferences and events strategy for each business segment: HED Institutions, Campus Retailers, Enterprise Institutions, Professional Learning, and Publishers.
  • Develop and implement innovative strategies to represent and amplify the VitalSource brand across all events, enhancing visibility and impact.

Conference Strategy and Objectives:

  • Partner with Audience Marketing, business and sales leadership to develop a data-driven conference strategy that aligns with brand goals, customer acquisition, and growth objectives.
  • Design and manage end-to-end conference frameworks, including event marketing plans, playbooks, attendee engagement strategies, and post-event analysis to measure impact and ROI.

Logistics and Vendor Management:

  • Oversee all aspects of conference and event production, ensuring seamless execution through collaboration with cross-functional teams, including sales, marketing, product, and customer success.
  • Lead contract negotiations and vendor management, including sponsorship agreements, venue contracts, AV services, and booth production, ensuring alignment with budget, timeline, and brand standards.
  • Manage event sponsorship agreements, inventory, and other logistics to optimize value and impact.

Content Strategy:

  • Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to create high-impact creative assets, thought leadership content, and compelling presentations.
  • Lead the call for proposals, speaker selection, and session development processes to ensure a diverse, engaging, and relevant content lineup.
  • Ensure all conference materials and presentations meet high-quality standards and reflect the VitalSource brand.

Marketing and Promotion:

  • Work closely with the marketing team to design and execute multi-channel promotional campaigns that drive attendance, enhance sponsorship value, and strengthen brand presence.
  • Leverage digital marketing channels and partnerships to maximize event visibility, engagement, and attendance.
  • Collaborate with in-house designers and external vendors to ensure all promotional materials, event displays, and digital assets are on-brand, innovative, and compelling.

Data-Driven Decision Making and Reporting:

  • Utilize data analytics and feedback to continuously improve conference and event strategy, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
  • Provide detailed post-event analysis, including insights on attendee engagement, lead generation, brand impact, and overall ROI to inform future event strategies.

Leadership and Collaboration:

  • Lead cross-functional teams and manage external partners to ensure cohesive planning, communication, and execution of all event activities, fostering a culture of collaboration, creativity, and accountability.
  • Act as a thought leader within the organization, staying current with industry trends and bringing innovative ideas to conference planning and execution.

 

Required Qualifications:

  • 5-7 years of experience in conference and event strategy, planning, and execution, preferably in a B2B environment.
  • Proven track record of developing and executing successful conference strategies that drive business results.
  • Strong leadership and project management skills, with experience leading cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in digital marketing, social media, and data analytics.

Salary Range: $84,000 to $104,000
