Position Purpose:  

Provide support in the financial modeling and analysis of value-based contracts to support our Coordinated Care health plan.

  • Coordinated Care in 1 of the 5 MCOs in WA.  Our health plan strives to partner with providers to provide quality care to our members. The data analytics team support our initiatives with the providers to achieve our mission. Internally we work with different teams to fulfill their analytics needs.

In this Senior Actuarial Analyst role, you will:

  • Help design and implement tools to evaluate VBC programs and contracts.
  • Model financial outcomes, drivers of VBC contract performance, and identify risks.
  • Develop reports and perform financial reconciliations with providers and State regulatory agencies.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to support implementation of VBC contracts.
  • Manage data requirements, evaluate appropriateness of data, problem solve any issues with internal and external data.
  • Increase efficiency through process improvement.
  • Apply knowledge of mathematics, probability, statistics, principles of finance and business to calculate financial outcomes
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Highly preferred:

  • Prefer at least 2+ years of ACA pricing related experience, including rate filing submissions, or an equivalent background in pricing/rate setting for health insurance products
  • Strong financial acumen, with a solid grasp of financial and actuarial principles within a health context
  • Excel, R/R-Studio, SQL
  • Experience with Medicaid and / or provider contracting is preferred but not required
  • Data extraction and manipulation with SQL (We will be transitioning to the Snowflake platform next year so exposure with Snowflake is a huge plus)
  • Microsoft Office, namely Excel, VBA, and Access; experience with financial modeling in Excel
  • Power BI experience is preferred but not a requirement

Required Education/Experience: Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent experience. Combination of years of experience and number of actuarial exams passed equals or exceeds 5 (Rule of 5). For example, 2 years of actuarial experience and 3 passed actuarial exams.

*Applicants for this job have the flexibility to work remote from home anywhere in the Continental United States. However, due to the needs of the business, ideal schedule is 8 am - 5 pm PST / Pacific Standard Time Zone*

Pay Range: $67,400.00 - $121,300.00 per year
