Job Summary

This position is responsible for managing the preparation and filing of Gross Receipts, Personal Property and Sales Tax with applicable third parties. In addition, the Director of Tax Compliance will develop strategies for tax savings and reduction of administrative burden.

What You Will Do (Functions and Responsibilities)

  • Managing the relationship with external tax authorities, including representing the company in audits and negotiations.
  • Ensuring compliance with foreign, state, federal, and local tax laws.
  • Review and submit tax filings as needed and timely, with assistance of external consultants where necessary.
  • Develop and implement tax strategies to minimize tax liabilities for the organization
  • Assist with tax planning and forecasting
  • Stay up to date with changes in tax laws and regulations and adjust strategies accordingly
  • Provide guidance and support to the accounting team on all tax-related matters, including preparing or reviewing the tax provision and owning the position of the company
  • Manage tax audits and other related inquiries from tax authorities
  • Manage the sales tax department.
  • Oversee and collaborate with other tax liabilities across the organization, including payroll, property, business, etc.
  • Coordinate and manage tax consultants and external auditors as it relates to corporate tax issues.

Qualifications

What We are Looking For (Minimum Qualifications)

  • 7-10 years’ relevant experience in a complex, multi-state, multi-national organization with complex tax structure required.
  • 2+ years tax leadership preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills, including ability to work collaboratively and effectively with external tax consultants.
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, with ability to be flexible and adapt to frequently changing workload and responsibilities.
  • Acute attention to detail.  Ability to multi-task.
  • Strong project management skills, well organized, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Must have initiative, be able to act decisively, work independently and exercise good judgment.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting required. MBA, Masters in Accounting or Taxation strongly preferred.
  • Active CPA license required.
