The following position is to join our RTX Corporate, Enterprise Services, Research Center or BBN team:
The US Payroll Compliance & Overpayment Lead will be responsible for oversight, execution, and coordination of payroll compliance and controls activities under the direction of the Sr. Director US Payroll. This role will also serve as the US Payroll Overpayment process owner responsible for process execution, process controls, and efficiencies. This role is accountable to ensure consistent, timely and high-quality business outcomes and serves as a subject matter expert with regards to RTX’s payroll standards.
What You Will do:
- Payroll controls oversight, execution, and coordination of all activities such as audit focal point, SOD management, SOX control adherence, etc.
- Overpayment process owner and governance of vendor process support team and related functions.
- Identify and drive process efficiencies, standardizations, and compliance for US Payroll Overpayment process and Compliance activities.
- Collaborate with business partners to adhere to and maintain payroll compliance.
- Collaborate with key stakeholders on problem solving, cross functional projects, and key initiatives.
- Serve as an escalation point for complex overpayment inquiries.
- Foster an environment for a positive employee experience (e.g. proactive communications, timely and complete inquiry responses).
- Provide timely and accurate data reporting, as required.
- Support internal and external audits inclusive of proper documentation, as required.
- Support execution of long-term business strategy and operational direction.
- Assist with cost savings measures to allow for adherence to financial plan.
- Manage incidents caused by and impacting US Payroll Overpayment team.
- Lead Governance team meetings with vendor team.
- Maintain a high level of controls and compliance along with proper oversight to financial impacts (overpayments).
- Report out process metrics efficiently and timely.
Qualifications You Must Have:
- This role typically requires a bachelor’s degree in business, accounting or finance and 8 years of experience or an advance degree and 5 years of relevant experience. In lieu of a degree 12 years of relevant work experience, schooling/certifications may be considered.
- Minimum of 5 years of payroll experience preferably gained in a large corporation or outsourced/BPO environment.
- U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access the financial management system due to government contractual requirements."
- At least 5 years’ experience and knowledge of Sarbanes Oxley controls, payroll process controls, payroll taxation, separation of duties (SOD) management, business continuity planning in payroll or related industry
- At least 5 years’ experience leading internal and external audits in a large corporation or outsourced/BPO environment
- At least 5 years’ experience with ADP, Workday, or other enterprise payroll systems.
Qualifications We Prefer:
- Strong working experience leading a small team with internal and/or vendor business partners
- Proven experience driving process efficiencies, standardizations, and compliance for US Payroll processes
- General knowledge of Excel, Microsoft Office Suite, Service Now, and other efficiency tools
- Prior experience with or knowledge of process improvement methodologies.
- Solid analytical and organizational skills; attention to detail and excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to communicate and influence executive leadership
- Ability to handle complex employee payroll inquiries/escalations
- Proven self-starter able to work effectively in a fast-paced team environment
- Demonstrated capability to work across functions/organizations in a team environment
Location/Type: Hybrid based near an RTX hub (Cedar Rapids IA, Dallas TX, Tucson, AZ, Hartford CT).

Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance employees, as they are essential to the development of our products.
Hybrid: Employees who are working in Hybrid roles will work regularly both onsite and offsite. Ratio of time working onsite will be determined in partnership with your leader.
Remote: Employees who are working in Remote roles will work primarily offsite (from home). An employee may be expected to travel to the site location as needed.

The salary range for this role is 96,000 USD - 200,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
