What is the role?
Leading a growing team of 8-10 engineers split across multiple pods
Cultivating an environment of continuous learning and collaboration
Optimising engineering processes and resourcing across the teams to optimise delivery
Collaborating with engineering leadership in setting team strategy and priorities
Reviewing technical architecture proposals and ensuring considerations have been made on cost, scalability, performance, resilience, testability, observability and maintainability
Improving knowledge sharing and collaboration, within and between teams, to remove roadblocks and keep teams performing well
Taking responsibility for planning, execution and success of complex projects
Driving a culture of cross-team learning, encouraging the team to present to the wider organisation on key learnings
What are we looking for?
Software Engineering or highly technical background
Experience in managing a team of full-stack engineers
Experience of being hands-on when you needed to be i.e. reviewing tech design decisions of the team and challenging them on those decisions. We are also looking for a manager who does code reviews, when needed and regularly provides some feedback to the engineer
A track record of delivery in high paced startup environments
Experience managing distributed teams is highly desirable
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Comfortable working in remote environments
Passion about people, with the ability to inspire, coach and mentor to help people perform at their best
It would be great if you had knowledge of the payments or FinTech industry but it isn't essential
