Description

A GIS Consultant works closely with customers to deliver and support geospatial services and provides expertise in Geospatial Enterprise Asset Management best practices. The GIS Consultant is responsible for working with clients to develop specifications and plans for new GIS system implementations and spatial applications, re-engineering or expansion of existing spatial systems, and integration with external systems or software. A GIS Consultant must have the requisite skills for investigating and evaluating legacy spatial data and systems, the ability to understand the workflows required maintain the data, specification of products or system outputs, and communicating the business purposes of the system. The GIS Consultant must also maintain current knowledge of technology trends, spatial software, and industry standards, and can apply that knowledge to innovative and leading-edge system design. A GIS Consultant is also intimately involved in collaborating with client business and technical staff on system specifications and may also need to communicate and collaborate effectively with client management. While technical domain expertise is important - verbal, writing and people skills are necessary.

Essential Functions

• Provide GIS and spatial data expertise to solve complex client problems.
• Stay current on GIS software and changes in the industry.
• Communicate GIS concepts clearly to teammates and clients in writing and diagrams.
• Support scope development, detailed business process development, and blueprint activities.
• Work with customer to assess current business and system processes and support definition of solutions and improvement plans.
• Serve as subject matter expert for GIS best practices an advises customers on asset, process, and industry best practice.
• Develop or assist with the development of GIS-related requirements and process-related project deliverables:
• Spatial database development
• Expert in spatial data migration
• Data quality assessment
• Expert in developing Design Documentation (GIS-related portions)
• Expert in generation of Test Scripts
• User Documentation
• Expert in running User Acceptance Testing
• Maintain professional client relationships.
• Provide clear and frequent communication with the project managers on the status of project deliverables.
• Work closely and collaboratively with GIS Analysts, Data Analysts, and GIS Consultants to share ideas and assist with ongoing projects.
• Assess ongoing project issues and risks and work with the customer and Rizing management to mitigate those risks.
• Maintain knowledge of Rizing Geospatial’s professional services offerings and products.
• Develop and perform product demonstrations both virtually and in person.
• Help identify opportunities for ongoing project opportunities during assigned project work.
• Work with Rizing leadership team to support sales and business development activities as required.
• Support pre-sales activities including:
• providing input to development of proposals and statements of work
• Supporting customer solution demonstrations and service review.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in GIS or related degree with a GIS certificate or significant GIS coursework.
• Five (5) years of experience as a GIS Analyst (Related graduate level coursework can be substituted for up to 1 year of experience).
• Two (2) or more years of industry experience.
• Demonstrated expert with Esri’s ArcGIS products.
• Two (2) or more years of experience with Esri and/or Rizing product or One (1) Esri and/or Rizing product full cycle implementation.
• Previous experience in professional services or consulting industry.
• Advanced knowledge of data mapping and data migration processes and tools.
• Advanced experience developing training materials and delivery end user training.
• Experience leading project activities / teams and application of structured implementation project methodologies and tools.
• Must possess knowledge of MS Office to include Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Desired Qualifications

• Experience with and/or knowledge of Linear Referencing Systems (LRS).
• Experience with and/or knowledge of SQL Server and/or Oracle.
• Experience with and/or knowledge of Python scripting.
• Experience with and or knowledge of Esri’s Workflow Manager, Data Reviewer and Advanced Linear Referencing Extensions.
• Experience with non-Esri GIS solutions (e.g., MapInfo, GeoMedia, GeoCortex)
• Knowledge of SAP Geographic Enablement Framework (GEF)
• Experience with diagramming/drawing software (e.g., MS Visio).
