Location/Region: This position is located in Sothern California and will SoCal and Las Vegas territory.
What’s the role?
As a Clinical Applications Specialist, you get to work with an astonishing team that plays a vital role to train technicians and/or doctors on instrument operation of Zeiss instruments.
The Clinical Applications Specialist (CAS), within infrequent supervision, must be able to assemble Carl Zeiss instruments, attach their peripheral devices, perform basic equipment troubleshooting, train technicians and/or doctors on instrument operation, and communicate basic equipment maintenance procedures in a professional manner. Work in collaboration with the Account
managers to assist in identifying opportunities and driving revenue for the Region.

• Manage on-site trainings as well as virtual within a given territory by independently contacting customers, scheduling appointments, making travel arrangements, and addressing customer inquiries.
• Communicate regularly with CAS in adjacent territories to coordinate on-site trainings of “border” customers.
• Possess knowledge of the diagnostic ophthalmic industry.
• Serve as the customer’s liaison to Carl Zeiss liaison on administrative and technical/clinical issues. Request assistance as needed.
• Converse regularly with Regional Sales Managers & Field Service Engineers regarding customer satisfaction or training issues. Begin development of a working relationship with both groups that enhances customer care.
• Begin process of learning to identify & communicate sales leads and create opportunities in NexGen as well with the Account Manager.
• Prepare and submit applicable documentation in a complete, accurate & timely manner as directed. This includes but is not limited to expense reports, & Product Training Checklists.
• Maintain & continually update knowledge on all appropriate Carl Zeiss products.
• Adhere to “CAS Responsibility” document.
• Other duties may include but are not limited to setup and instruction on Carl Zeiss equipment at Convention and/or Seminars.
• Maintain currency of and adhere to applicable GMP and ISO 9001 processes and procedures. Abide by state and federal employment law.

Additional Responsibilities:
Quarterly Learning Institution Engagement: CAS would engage with the Institution’s Clinic Supervisor to provide value add support: Demo/Evaluation of New Products, Continuing Diagnostic Education for technicians, feature refresher overview for Providers. This would enhance the institution’s experience with ZEISS and lead to increased new equipment evaluations. Requires 1 Full Day per/quarter at a learning institution within the CAS’s coverage area.
Field Sales Demo/Evaluation Support: CIRRUS/IOLMASTER 700/CLARUS – Based on need and CAS schedule, CAS should provide Field Sales Demo Evaluation Support for (3) Field Sales Opportunities per/mo. The CAS will identify these opportunities individually or based on collaboration with Account Managers.
Do you qualify?
•At least three to five (3-5) years of experience in an ophthalmology clinic setting or in the diagnostic ophthalmology industry or comparable experience.
•Knowledge of visual fields, lensometry, refractometry, and Biometry and/or fundus photography. Knowledge of laser scanning technology is helpful but not mandatory.
•Good communications skills (written & verbal) and the ability to work with customers in challenging situations is required.
•Ability to follow standard practices & procedures in analyzing data or situations from which answers can readily be obtained.
•Basic skills in computers & accompanying software. (Microsoft Office—Word, Excel)
•Ability to travel overnight and work occasional weekends.
•Well organized and capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
•Requires valid driver’s license.

The hourly pay range for this position is $35.00 - $43.00.
The pay offered for this role may be influenced by factors such as job location, scope of role, qualifications, education, experience, & complexity/specialization/scarcity of talent.
This position is eligible for a Performance Bonus.
