QA Director

As our QA Director, you’ll be responsible for:
Overall Expectations
Commercial Mindset: Maintain a strong commercial focus, ensuring QA strategies and initiatives support overall business objectives. Evaluate the cost-effectiveness of QA processes and drive initiatives that enhance both quality and profitability. Understand the broader business impact of quality and advocate for QA’s role in achieving business success.
Board Reporting: Regularly prepare and present comprehensive QA reports to the board of directors. Highlight key quality metrics, strategic initiatives, and any potential risks or issues. Ensure transparency and clarity in all communications with the board.
Stakeholder Management: Effectively manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring their quality requirements and expectations are met.
Risk Management: Identify, assess, and mitigate risks related to product quality and delivery.
Budget Management: Oversee the QA budget, ensuring resources are allocated effectively and expenditures are within approved limits.
Strategy
Quality Vision and Strategy: Develop and communicate a comprehensive QA vision and strategy that aligns with company goals. Focus on integrating quality into the entire development lifecycle.
Process Improvement: Continuously evaluate and improve QA processes, ensuring they are efficient, effective, and aligned with industry best practices. Emphasize a shift-left testing approach and strong automation focus.
AI Integration: Identify and leverage opportunities to integrate AI and machine learning into QA processes to enhance testing accuracy and efficiency.
Change Management: Lead and navigate organizational changes, ensuring smooth transitions and minimal disruption to quality standards.
People
Team Leadership: Inspire and lead the QA team, fostering a quality-focused mindset and culture. Provide mentorship and support to team members to drive their professional growth.
Performance Management: Implement effective performance management practices. Set clear expectations, provide regular feedback, and support continuous improvement for all team members.
Collaboration and Communication: Build strong alliances with peers and other departments. Ensure clear, concise communication of complex topics to all stakeholders.
Empowerment and Motivation: Create an environment where the QA team feels empowered and motivated. Recognize and reward achievements, encourage innovation, and maintain high morale.
Technology
Testing Best Practices: Implement and enforce best practices in testing, including automated testing, continuous integration, and continuous delivery. Ensure these practices are ingrained in the development process.
Tool and Technology Evaluation: Stay updated on the latest QA tools and technologies. Evaluate and integrate the best tools that fit the company’s needs and improve testing processes.
AI and Automation: Drive the adoption of AI and automation in QA processes to increase efficiency and accuracy. Ensure the team is skilled in these technologies and approaches.
Quality Metrics and Reporting: Develop and maintain a robust set of quality metrics. Use these metrics to monitor performance, identify areas for improvement, and report on the status of quality initiatives to senior leadership.
What you need:
- Demonstrated ability to lead QA teams with a collaborative and developmental approach.
- Strong management skills that foster cohesion in a distributed team.
- Ability to develop a QA strategy that aligns with both QA and business goals.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to leverage data for informed business decisions.
- Proven track record in the field of quality assurance.
- Extensive experience in the planning, design, and implementation of automation tools, frameworks, and infrastructures.
- Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to convey complex ideas in a compelling manner.
- A proactive approach, with a drive to take initiative and deliver results.
- Proven ability to set and communicate objectives, design and execute projects, develop and interpret analytics, and effectively collaborate across all levels of a large multi-national organization, including executive leadership.
- Detail-oriented and highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple deadlines simultaneously.
- Comfortable working with a geographically dispersed global team and willing to travel when required.
