Job Title:              Production Support Operative - Electrical

The role
As a Production Support Operative - Electrical, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. Working with experienced and qualified Electrical Fitters, you’ll be assisting with pre heat requirements for welding and temporary electrical supplies. 

 

Day-to-day, you’ll be working within the Submarine business unit at Devonport Dockyard in Plymouth. This will see you working on Submarines and supporting delivery of these complex engineering projects.   

 

  • Installing temporary lighting, power supplies and pre geat equipment, plus maintenance of that equipment to ensure it meets operational requirements.
  • Carrying out system and equipment functional tests and monitoring duties.

 

This role is full time, 35 hours per week and is based on site at Devonport Royal Dockyard, A particular requirement of this role is to be able to work shiftwork - covering days, backshift and nights. this will attract enhanced pay rates

 

Essential experience of the Production Support Operative - Electrical

  • Demonstratable experience of working within high performing teams focused on delivering engineering projects.
  • You will need the ability to interpret work instructions and be competent in the use of general workshop tools and machinery some specific to electrical engineering.
  • Experience of working within marine electrical engineering environment – Desirable
  • Ideally you will have worked in the marine engineering industry with experience of Royal Navy ships and submarines, Royal Fleet Auxiliary vessels or large commercial ships - although other relevant experience and transferable skills from other engineering sectors will be considered.

 

Qualifications for the Production Support Operative - Electrical 

  • Full UK Driving Licence

 

Any Electrical Qualifications would be advantageous, as would the following:

 

  • Experience working in a Naval Base environment.
  • HS0003 Hot Work Operators / Sentries
  • HS0384 Practical Fire Training
  • NUC1119 Entry to Radiological Area
