Job description

You will participate in personal lines property specific training. Learn and apply insurance and risk concepts. Develop and demonstrate problem-solving and analytical skills. Process may be automated but incumbents review accuracy of information and system-generated results. Focus on lower-level risk and quality control.
You will report to the Manager, Property Underwriting.

Position Compensation Range:

$23.00 - $35.57

Compensation may vary based on the job level and your geographic work location. Relocation support is offered for eligible candidates.

Primary Accountabilities
•Develop and demonstrate competence in using the underwriting decision-making process of evaluating the risk, determining eligibility, and documenting appropriately. Underwrite less complex product lines, under limited authority and with guidance from a manager or mentor. Develop and demonstrate competence in making appropriate decisions regarding the selection of coverage's and making pricing determinations.
•Conduct comprehensive underwriting review of new business policies for auto and home insurance for eligibility and matching rate to risk within letter of authority.
•Communicate with the sales agent to gather necessary information on which to base decisions.
•Review auto, home and umbrella renewals to home inspections and make decisions about acceptance of policy within letter of authority.
•Review state guidelines to determine if policies will be cancelled, non-renewed or sent a correction action recommendation letter.
•Review documents received related to recommendations letters and update policies accordingly.
•Assist in the documentation of underwriting processes and procedures through the creation, review or revision to articles or other forms of business-related rule documents.
•Prepare standardized reports, track underwriting actions on an account basis and provide detailed reports of metrics to management on a periodic basis.

Specialized Knowledge & Skills Requirements

Demonstrated experience providing customer-driven solutions.
•2+ years' experience in personal lines property insurance.
•Basic knowledge and understanding of policy services and operations.
•Demonstrated experience effectively communicating via email with customers to resolve issues.
•Basic knowledge of mathematical concepts to calculate loss ratios, and other underwriting formulas.
