The opportunity
The ITS Data Engineer will report to the Data Engineering Manager, and will serve on the data team that ensures that accurate, business-relevant data is available for use to inform decisions and strategic programs at the university. Within that team, Data Engineers will manage data service solutions, working with large volumes of data to build the loads and transformations used to support our needs. You will work with a team to deliver data to partners to inform and support the university’s efforts to meet the needs of each learner. This role can be 100% remote based in one of our approved states. #LI-Remote.
What you'll do:
- You will work as part of a team responsible for building, expanding, and maintaining data solutions delivering accurate information to partners around the university
- You will analyze our requirements and data sources to design efficient solutions to satisfy user needs
- You will implement and manage data pipelines that extract data from multiple sources, transform it into a usable format, and load it into data storage systems
- You will support and improve existing data solutions (relational databases, data warehouses, data lakes)
- You will follow (and influence) team standards for the processes we use and products we build
- You will contribute to a team responsible for the design, development, and implementation of mission-critical data service solutions
- Other responsibilities as assigned
What we're looking for:
- 5+ years of information technology practical experience in a quantitative, data-driven business environment working with data directly.
- Technical skills, knowledge of data engineering principles, and hands-on experience in data-related projects.
- Knowledge of relational database architecture and data warehousing.
- Experience with data extraction and transformation processes.
- Expertise in writing complex queries and scripts with T-SQL.
- Reflexive practice of the software development lifecycle, including industry practices such as version control and release management.
- Experience developing data solutions such as data warehouses, data marts, and reports.
- Understanding of database design, performance tuning, and indexing strategies.
Additional Experience With:
- Bachelor's degree in a quantitative or analytical field such as information technology, business, mathematics, engineering, analytics, or sciences.
- Development and operations of pipelines within Azure Data Factory
- Track and coordinate work using Kanban methodologies
- Use Azure DevOps as a work tracking, code management, and deployment tool
- Experience working with data services on cloud infrastructure (Azure preferred)

Compensation
The annual pay range for this position is $83,071.00 - $132,940.00. Actual offer will be based on skills, qualifications, experience and internal equity, in addition to relevant business considerations. We expect this position to be hired in the following target hiring range $91,794.00 - $124,192.00.
