We are seeking an experienced Software Developer Manager to lead a team of developers located in various regions around the world. In this role, you will work closely with Sinch’s customers to build conversational solutions and guide the implementation of systems within the conversational domain. The successful candidate will bring extensive experience in managing engineering teams, building high-performance, distributed systems, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement and collaboration.
Role and Responsibilities
Team Leadership:
- Manage and mentor the engineers providing guidance on technical and career development.
- Conduct regular 1-on-1s, performance evaluations, and career growth discussions to ensure team members are motivated and aligned with organizational goals.
- Facilitate cross-team collaboration, ensuring that the teams in Spain and Germany work cohesively and effectively towards shared objectives.
Strategic Alignment:
- Drive the implementation of the Conversational Strategy within the teams, ensuring alignment with broader domain and organizational goals.
- Collaborate closely with leaders responsible for developing solutions and products that drive the company’s conversational strategy, balancing priorities across different domains and contributing to strategic initiatives at the domain level.
Operational Excellence:
- Oversee the development, launch, and operation of mission-critical, high-performance, distributed, and fault-tolerant systems.
- Ensure the teams follow best practices in software engineering, including trunk-based development, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), GitOps, and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD).

Requirements
Leadership Experience: Proven experience leading a team as a manager or being accountable for the team's results. At least 2 years of experience in a Tech Lead or Senior Engineer role.
Technical Expertise:
- Strong background in building services or tooling used by other developers to build or run their workloads.
- Experience in developing and running mission-critical, high-performance, distributed, and fault-tolerant systems.
- Proficiency in high-level languages such as Java, Kotlin, or TypeScript.
- Familiarity with trunk-based development, IaC, GitOps, and CI/CD toolsets.
Versatility: Experience working across multiple technology stacks and programming paradigms.
Customer Focus: Experience working in a customer-centric environment
Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence and inspire both technical teams and business stakeholders. This role requires close engagement with company customers, participating in external meetings to guide the implementation of solutions effectively within customers environments.
Supportive Leadership: Comfortable providing support and guidance to other engineers within the organization.
Language Proficiency: Fluency in English is required.
Preferred Qualification
Experience in Cross-Border Teams: Experience managing or collaborating with distributed teams across different geographies.
Cultural Adaptability: Ability to integrate into a diverse, multinational work environment and manage teams with different cultural backgrounds.
