Underwriter II

Lima One Capital has an exciting opportunity for an Underwriter II to join our quickly growing Operations Team. This role focuses on analyzing and verifying loan applications, evaluating financial risks, and making final decision on eligibility for all loan applicants. An Underwriter II must possess the ability to exercise sound judgement based on detailed analysis and ensure all documentation follows underwriting guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Determining creditworthiness and financial well-being of sponsor
• Underwriting of both borrower and property 
• Assessing and approving exception requests from sales team
• Determining viability and risk concerns of incoming appraisals
• Collaborate with Director and underwriters for Credit Review Committee meetings 
• Reviewing and verifying loan applications and supporting documentation
• Analyzing loan risk and requesting additional information as necessary
• Preparing reports on assessment findings to Directors and ELT members
• Making loan eligibility decisions and approving or rejecting applications
• Reviewing and specifying loan conditions as necessary
• Ensuring compliance with regulatory standards
• Ensuring compliance with company policies and guidelines
• Documenting and effectively communicating reasons for the approval/rejection of loans

• 5+ years of underwriting experience
• Excellent communication skills
• Strong analytical skills including critical thinking, data analysis, and problem solving
• Highly organized, detail oriented, and strong prioritization skills
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite

Education and Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree  
• 5+ years of underwriting experience
