Position Description

Quality Assurance Automation engineers at Softdocs are responsible for analyzing, designing and implementing tests while debugging and defining corrective actions. Each QA engineer is expected to collaborate with other QA team members, development members, and product managers. These engineers are expected to be QA champions: understand our products, test and create automation that will produce high quality solutions to make our clients wildly successful.


The QA Engineer is a leader in quality within Sprint teams. They lead mobbing sessions and train less experienced team members to help the entire team grow as a technical unit. As a QA champion, they are proactive in guiding the automation direction to improve and be more efficient. Leading through QA principles and practices, they improve our product by developing test cases and demonstrating an in-depth knowledge of methods, patterns, and structures necessary to produce high quality automation. As a QA champion, you are heavily involved with the artifacts that the sprint teams produce, developing test cases and automation that meet the standards of the QA team.


This role reports to the Director of Quality Assurance.


Responsibilities

  • Engineering — as QA champions of sprint teams, you are required to develop test cases and produce automation within the sprints that will be checked in and run regularly. Plus, creatively create tests scenarios to assist in defining automation for customer testing environment
  • Team Collaboration — QA engineers work closely with other teams (Engineering, Support, and Client Success) to produce high quality software that enables to deliver lovable, quality products to our customers
  • Strategic — drive strategic QA results by developing frameworks and designing patterns across the agile software development process
  • Leadership — as QA champions, develop tests and automations to build user-centric quality into our product, especially as leaders of your sprint teams


Qualifications


Technical Skills

  • QA Experience – 5 to 10 years of experience in taking requirements, creating test plans, and building test cases to exercise both positive and negative test cases
  • Analytical Thinker – 5 to 10 years of experience in detecting and troubleshooting problems, analyzing/understanding the problem, and providing clear steps to reproduce and document the problem. Thinks outside the box to identify the problem, deliver solutions, and share with the team
  • Automation – 3 to 5 years of experience writing automation code, automating tests, and growing the automation scope in both web based and desktop applications. We currently use Cypress as our web-based automation tool
  • SAFe – works on agile projects and understands the premise, strengths, and weaknesses of the agile software development process.
  • Leadership — serves as a QA champion and works with and mentor team members
  • Customer Excellence – loads and performs testing; assists in customer level scenarios to grow the automation harness (load test automation, performance test automation, etc.)

  • Interpersonal — works well with cross functional teams to produce superb quality tests and automation results
  • Communication — writes clear test cases which test feature concepts being built

Preferred

  • JavaScript/Typescript – 1 to 5 years of experience
  • Cypress – 1 to 5 years of experience
  • Microsoft Azure – exposure to Microsoft Azure
  • SaaS – work experience at a SaaS-based software company
  • Agile Minded – we seek individuals who have consistency in executing the implementation and configuration of SAFe in the workplace


Education

  • B.A. in Business, Computer Science, or related education sector applicable experience
