Job Description

UL is seeking an Automotive Cybersecurity Advisor who will be performing audits and assessment of automotive cybersecurity processes and systems. The Automotive Cybersecurity Advisor will lead or participate in the review or audit of automotive products and processes for clients seeking compliance to standards in cybersecurity and related fields, including ISO/SAE 21434:2021, ISO 24089:2023, UNECE WP.29 R155 and R156 and other similar standards relevant to systems-and software-engineering and secure development lifecycle.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the review or assessment of cybersecurity products and processes for clients seeking compliance to relevant standards in vehicle cybersecurity.
  • Employ established methods and frameworks, relevant to cybersecurity and related fields, to lead the review or audit of cybersecurity cases for complex software-intensive systems.
  • Lead client projects by interacting regularly with clients in technical program meetings and project reviews. Provide expert technical leadership and guidance to our clients in reference to automotive cybersecurity and related technical fields.
  • Lead training events in topics relevant to cybersecurity and related fields, including ISO/SAE 21434:2021, ISO 24089:2023 R155/R156 and other similar standards and regulations.
  • Lead business development activities defining Statements of Work (SOWs) and providing budgetary estimates for client proposal development
  • Shall be able to provide personalized guidance and support to customers, considering project planning, training, assessment, documentation, and implementation.
  • Formal report writing in line with customer and certification scheme requirements.
  • Support the Project Management team on evaluation scoping, resource requirements, certification body and customer expectations, delivering projects within the expected time.
  • Pro-actively identifies relevant industry trends and drive knowledge / expertise development in this domain, by coaching colleagues and taking ownership of activities to increase customer awareness of UL (including papers, articles, conference attendance).
  • Provides upgrades to UL and industry technical requirements on security requirements along with other standard bodies by collaborating the Software & Security team.
  • Supports security team in building and improving UL’s assurance programs and services.
  • Provides high-level technical support to the operations department and internal staff. This may include planning, logistics, updating procedures, training, and quality issues.
  • Provides sales support and the sale of more complex projects.
  • Ensures internal procedures such as timely updates on project progress, invoicing and other administrative processes are being followed.

Qualifications

  • University Degree (Equivalent to a bachelor’s degree), preferably in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Technology, Mathematics, or a related technical discipline.
  • Relevant experience (2-5 years) and/or equivalent training and certification in penetration testing.
  • Relevant experience (2-5 years) or formal training in cryptography and/or cryptanalysis is a plus
  • At least 2-5 years of relevant work experience, proven background in customer facing advisory services, technical expertise.
  • Experience with ISO/SAE 21434:2021, ISO 24089:2023 R155/R156 standards in automotive cybersecurity and software update.
  • Knowledge of other cybersecurity standards pertinent to automotive, SCADA or IOT cybersecurity is a plus.
  • Experience with vehicle EE systems, vehicle bus systems, and/or embedded software/hardware vehicle development and or software update development.
  • Have proven experience in customer facing advisory services (project and delivery), and knowledge of product certification methodologies.
  • Have a competency in cybersecurity domain (Risk Management, Asset Security, Network Security, Identity & Access Management etc.) and in other cybersecurity solutions.
  • Have strong communication skills and the ability to facilitate presentations and quickly adapt to various technical and organizational environments.
  • Be resilient and have collaborative profile, being able to coach other team members, share knowledge and work in various teams at the same time.
  • Capable of expanding lead generation, chargeable work, and developing new services.
  • Have a proven history of responsibility, accuracy, and attention to details.
  • Understands the importance of addressing customer needs.
  • Detailed knowledge of industry issues, needs, and problems.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Ability to work in an international, fast-paced environment and willingness to travel.
