The Role
Lumen is seeking multiple Senior Planning Engineers to join the Strategic Planning team. These hires will focus in part on Bulk Sold Deal Capital and also on Expansion/Market Planning. From a Bulk Sold Deal Capital perspective, the role will involve validating sold deals, managing order flow, and monitoring capital expense usage while collaborating with the Account and Offer Management teams to ensure accurate site lists for customer presentations. On the Expansion/Market Planning side, the role will support in the development of collaborative planning solutions to improve network efficiencies and drive revenue growth, including detailed service delivery plans with physical and network layer designs, maps, diagrams, and cost estimates.
The Senior Planning Engineers will drive operational excellence in partnership with internal stakeholders, vendors, and peers to foster continuous improvement while exemplifying Lumen’s 8 cultural beliefs of Teamwork, Trust, Transparency, Clarity, Courage, Customer Obsession, Growth Mindset, and Allyship.
Location
This is a fully remote position open to candidates based anywhere in the U.S.
The Main Responsibilities
- Validate sold deals and manage order flow into the correct workflow.
- Monitor and forecast capital expense usage.
- Partner with the Account Team and Offer Management to ensure accurate and complete site lists for customer presentations.
- Provide continued support through the contracted, work in progress, and completed stages by performing capital budget/variance management, network design reviews, reporting, and process adherence.
- Develop collaborative planning solutions to aid in the long-term growth of the company from a network advancement and revenue perspective.
- Improve network efficiencies by addressing latency, owned vs leased assets, and deployment of new technology.
- Drive revenue growth by identifying new near net assets in high revenue growth areas and expansion markets.
- Create detailed plans providing service delivery solutions to customer or data center locations, including physical and network layer plans, maps, diagrams, and cost estimates.
What We Look For in a Candidate
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent education and 6+ years of relevant experience
- 4+ years of related experience with a Master's degree
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills for data analysis and reporting with demonstrated proficiency in VLOOKUPs and pivot tables
- Effective collaboration and communication skills with ability to delegate to internal project stakeholders and third-party vendor partners
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with and foundational understanding of internal mapping tools like ArcGIS or comparable for designing within detailed maps and diagrams to depict design plan initiatives
- Project Management or Lean Six Sigma certification or demonstrated experience driving process improvement utilizing such methodologies
Compensation
The starting salary for this role differs based on the employee's primary work location. Employees typically do not start at the top of the range, though compensation depends on each individual's qualifications.
Location Based Pay Ranges
$80,510 - $107,340 in these states: AR, ID, KY, LA, ME, MS, NE, SC, and SD.
$84,740 - $112,980 in these states: AZ, AL, FL, GA, IN, IA, KS, MO, MT, NM, ND, OH, OK, PA, TN, UT, VT, WV, WI, and WY.
$88,980 - $118,630 in these states: CO, HI, MI, MN, NV, NH, NC, OR, and RI.
$93,210 - $124,280 in these states: AK, CA, CT, DE, DC, IL, MD, MA, NJ, NY, TX, VA, and WA.
As with the pay range variety that's based on the region of a country, specific offers are determined by various factors such as experience, education, skills, certifications and other business needs.
