Are you a technical expert with a passion for operational risk management? Do you have experience in wastewater networks and want to contribute to environmental improvements?

Join our dynamic team at Southern Water as a Regional Risk Specialist within Wastewater Networks Budds Farm. You’ll play a pivotal role in consolidating, tracking, and resolving operational risks tied to sewer flooding and pollution, driving performance improvements across our operations.

In this critical role, you will be responsible for identifying and addressing asset risks, collaborating with internal teams and external partners to implement effective solutions. Your work will directly contribute to our mission of reducing pollution incidents and enhancing wastewater network resilience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Track and resolve sewer flooding risks, ensuring timely and effective risk mitigation.
  • Lead targeted projects aimed at improving environmental performance, such as reducing spills from key sites.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders and delivery partners to ensure that risk reduction strategies align with corporate objectives and regulatory requirements.
  • Regularly report on risk reduction progress, demonstrating improvements in pollution and flooding performance.

What You’ll Bring:

  • Strong technical and operational background, preferably in wastewater or a regulated environment.
  • Experience in assessing and mitigating asset risks using data from various sources.
  • Ability to conduct root cause analysis and develop business cases for risk mitigation strategies.
  • Confidence in working with stakeholders across different levels, with a collaborative and proactive approach to problem-solving.

Ideally, you will hold NEBOSH or IOSH certification and a formal Project Management qualification (e.g., Prince2). However, if you have relevant experience and are keen to progress, we offer full support for you to obtain these qualifications.

We offer a flexible hybrid working model, allowing you to split your time between our Budds Farm office and home, providing you with a balance between professional productivity and personal wellbeing.
