Job description

Our client, a leading government technology service provider located in Washington D.C. is in need of a Senior Systems Programmer (DB2) for a 6 month contract to hire. The Senior Systems Programmer will work remotely to help plan, install, configure, customize, and maintain multiple DB2 subsystems and related software in a multi-LPAR, multi-site environment. They will upgrade DB2 subsystems, ensure compatibility, and establish upgrade/fallback procedures. Additionally, they’ll provide on-call support after hours for issue resolution or configuration changes.

Required Skills

  • Proficient with IBM z/OS installation tools to include SMP/E, z/OSMF, PDO, etc.
  • 7+ years of professional experience, required
  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline or four years of additional experience
  • Experience in the implementation, maintenance and management of DB2 software and subsystems
  • Knowledge and experience in UNIX Systems Services under z/OS
  • US Citizen

Preferred Skills

  • Familiarity with SQL and SPUFI
  • Familiarity with z/OS Security product CA
  • Knowledge and experience with other IBM products such as CICS and Websphere
