Job description

Finding the right place to grow your career isn’t (over) easy, so we’re here to help by sharing a few reasons why the grass is greener at Vital Farms. We think you’ll appreciate our focus on Conscious Capitalism, which drives business decisions that benefit all our stakeholders (leading to even better business results). You might be drawn to our innovative approach and refusal to settle for the “way things have always been done.” Or you could find it exciting to grow your skills while working for an industry-leading brand. Whether you’re into our values, our brand, or our egg-cellent puns, we hope you’ll join our Crew and help us change the world 108 square feet at a time!

At Vital Farms, we are proud of our incredible stakeholders, and the diversity they represent from all areas and communities in which we operate and serve. We view this as a source of strength for us and your job is to help us make it even better.

Your Role:

Reporting to the Sr. Learning & Development Partner, the Learning and Development Specialist, Operations, will play a key role in driving the performance and professional growth of our Production Operations and Farm Support teams. You’ll own the end-to-end design, implementation, management, and measurement of programs that boost performance, improve job satisfaction, and support career development. You will partner with stakeholders across the organization to develop impactful programs for our Operations crew, while also contributing to broader L&D initiatives such as leadership development, onboarding, and all-crew training programs. Your efforts will be crucial in fostering a high-performance culture and ensuring that our crew are equipped with the things they need to excel.

What You'll Do:

  • Program Development: Design and implement comprehensive training programs that address the learning needs of our Production Operations and Farm teams. Focus on enhancing operational skills and role-specific competencies. Support broader L&D initiatives as needed.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration & Needs Assessment: Collaborate with key stakeholders including the Continuous Improvement team, operations leadership and crew members to identify training needs and performance gaps. Use data and feedback to create targeted learning solutions aligned with broader organizational goals and strategies.
  • Facilitation: Facilitate engaging and interactive training sessions, workshops, and learning experiences using various delivery methods, including in-person, instructor-led training, virtual classrooms, and self-paced modules; for all learner levels – senior leadership through front line production crew.
  • Onboarding: Implement and manage onboarding programs for new Operations crew, ensuring a smooth integration into the company and a strong understanding of their roles and responsibilities.
  • Project Management: Oversee the end-to-end execution of learning programs, including scheduling, logistics, and participant communications. Manage multiple initiatives simultaneously and deliver results within tight deadlines. Ensure there is a balanced and thoughtful calendar of training programming annually.
  • Evaluation, Reporting, and Continuous Improvement: Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of training programs through assessments, feedback, and performance metrics. Provide regular reports on training outcomes and recommend improvements as needed.
  • Crew Performance: Support the development and implementation of strategies and programs that support performance, including coaching and mentoring programs. Work with leaders and teams, to identify skill gaps and create programs & resources to strengthen on-the-job performance.
  • Compliance and Safety: In partnership with stakeholders, ensure all training programs comply with industry regulatory standards (e.g. SQF, OSHA, FDA, etc.). Promote a culture of safety and continuous improvement through regular training and updates.

What You Bring to the Table:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, Business Administration, or related field
  •  3+ years of experience in learning and development, with a focus on manufacturing, hourly populations required, agricultural settings preferred.
  • This is a remote role but will require the ability to travel 30-40% for team meetings, company offsites, employee onboarding trips and other business needs. Travel to manufacturing facilities, farms, and corporate offices will be required.
  • Proven track record of designing and delivering effective learning solutions, including instructor-led training, e-learning modules, and multimedia resources using various instructional tools (e.g. Articulate Rise, Microsoft Teams, Microsoft Office Suite, Canva).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, and facilitation skills (remote and in-person), with the ability to engage and influence diverse audiences at all levels of the organization.
  • Familiarity with training best practices, performance management, and employee engagement strategies.
  • Experience working with employees in a production or manufacturing setting, DDI certification, understanding lean principles and safety regulations/compliance requirements a plus.
  • Passion for employee development and a commitment to fostering a positive and high-performance work environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  •  Analytical mindset, with the ability to gather, analyze, and interpret data to measure learning effectiveness and drive continuous improvement.
  • You’re no hero – You know the power of teamwork and celebrate the work of others before your own.
  • You give a sh*t – You believe in acting like an owner and making Vital Farms a place to be proud of.
  • You raise the standards – You know growth can be hard, but you strive to improve yourself and others each day.
  • You can walk in someone else’s boots – You seek to understand other’s viewpoints and think that you get to better answers by sitting on the same side of the table.
  • You don’t walk on eggshells – You’re not afraid to leave the bullsh*t behind and have honest conversations.

What We Bring to the Table:

  • A fast-paced, energetic, remote environment with passionate people who are leading a movement to bring ethically produced food to the table.
