Greenlight is looking for a Director of Technical Accounting and Reporting to join our Accounting leadership team. The individual in this role will lead financial reporting and technical accounting at Greenlight. This position will engage in the preparation of mock shareholder letters, preparation of materials of Audit Committee meetings and various other ad hoc projects. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on leader who can independently execute tasks that ensure the accuracy of the financial statements and look for opportunities to automate and improve the efficiency of the Accounting Department.
This role reports to the VP, Accounting.
Your day-to-day:Lead the financial reporting function and oversee the drafting, review and filing of all financial reports for private companies, including mock Form 10-K, 10-Q and S-1.Ensure compliance with applicable reporting requirements throughout the year to ensure the accuracy of financial reporting. Monitor changes in US GAAP, SEC regulation and other applicable standards that impact the company’s financial statements.Monitor SEC comment letter trends and peer company benchmarking.Coordinate with senior leaders to produce earnings releases or shareholder letters, including drafting sections that are impacted by complex accounting matters in a clear and easy to understand manner.Partner with Accounting leadership to ensure accounting policies are updated to reflect current business practices and compliance with US GAAP and educate the Accounting organization on standard setting that may impact Greenlight.Oversee all technical accounting of Greenlight and work directly with professional services firms and our auditor on technical accounting matters.Responsible for conducting accounting research and preparing accounting memorandums for technical accounting matters regarding significant or complex transactions.Taking the lead on ad hoc projects in support of initiatives in the Accounting Department and coordinating with and providing coaching to non-direct reports who assist in the performance of those projects.Process owner for our share-based compensation tool and internal coordination on all share-based compensation matters.Responsible for ownership and a high level of proficiency in the use of all SaaS tools that support the reporting and technical accounting of the businessPerform SOX controls and procedures over financial reporting, technical accounting and other processes.What you’ll bring to the team:Bachelor’s degree or higher in Finance or Accounting with an active CPA license.8-12+ years of experience, including time with a Big 4 public accounting firm (National Office experience or experience in a technical accounting / reporting advisory group is a significant plus), SEC registrant (with involvement in an IPO) or high-growth pre-IPO company, preferably in the fintech industry.Highly proficient US GAAP, IFRS, SEC reporting requirements and other foreign local GAAP reporting requirements.Strong ability to perform technical research and provide multiple viewpoints on technical accounting issues that arise to assist in arriving at the desired outcome for the business.Superb writing skills for the preparation of technical accounting memorandums, drafting of shareholder letters and drafting the content of our financial reports.Super verbal communication skills to articulate complex technical accounting issues and their financial statement impact to senior leadership.Passion for continuous improvement, building greater efficiency in our business process and searching opportunities to automate the accounting functions.Work perks at Greenlight:Medical, dental, vision, and HSA match Paid life insurance, AD&D, and disability benefits Traditional 401k with company match and Roth IRAUnlimited PTO Paid company holidays and pop-up bonus holidays Wellness & professional development stipendsMental health resources 1:1 financial plannersFertility healthcare100% paid parental and caregiving leave, plus cleaning service and meals during your leaveFlexible WFH, both remote and in-office opportunitiesFully stocked kitchen, catered lunches, and occasional in-office happy hoursEmployee resource groupsOur stance on salaries:
Greenlight provides a competitive compensation package with a market-based approach to pay and will vary depending on your location, experience and skill set. The total compensation package for this position will also include a discretionary performance bonus, equity rewards, medical benefits, 401K match, and more. Greenlight conducts continuous compensation evaluations across departments and geographies to ensure we are keeping our pay current and competitive.
The estimated base pay range for this position in (NY, CA, WA): $130,000- 185,000
The estimated base pay range for this position in (CO):$130,000-175,000
