We are looking to fill the role of a Structural Steel Detailer Lead for our Safety practice and are open to fully remote candidates that are located in the US. The structural steel detailer will generate structural steel drawing packages and prepare steel erection plans based on the structural engineer’s designs. The structural steel detailer actively achieves the design goal, scope, and solution for LJB’s clients on time and within budget.


Pay: $80,000- 120,000


STRUCTURAL STEEL DETAILER LEAD ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Interpret design documents from the structural engineer and work with the project manager, engineer, and other team members to create shop and erection drawings.
  • SDS/2 software efficiently creates a 3D model and shop/erection drawings for the steel fabricator and the steel erector in the field.
  • Draw details and sub-materials for fabrication. Coordinate job requirements with project managers and subcontractors.
  • Assist in developing design concepts and provide input on system design.
  • Review drawings to ensure adherence to established company and industry specifications and standards and perform routine drafting and technical tasks as required throughout the project duration.
  • Review design changes and recommend improvements to meet fall protection standards.
  • Maintain quality standards, format special requirements, etc., as mandated by office production standards.
  • Coordinate working drawing information with related outsources and consultants.
  • Coordinate with project teams to ensure the timely completion of design deliverables.
  • Potential supervision of other steel detailers, including hiring, career development, performance management, timecards, payroll duties, etc.

Additional Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Take the initiative to make sure tasks are completed on time. Including setting up project timelines and communicating them to the team.
  • Other duties as assigned

STRUCTURAL STEEL DETAILER LEAD ESSENTIAL CREDENTIALS:

Education:

  • Two-year technical degree in drafting design or engineering technologies preferred, or CAD Drafting Certificate with relevant work experience.

Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in Bluebeam and Microsoft Office
  • Four+ years of design experience using SDS/2 required (high level of proficiency required).
  • Four years of structural design experience using CAD software is required (Revit proficiency is preferred).
  • Technical training/work experience in Advance Steel & Revit desired.
  • Exhibits strong organizational, time management, and multitasking skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in team settings.
