Professional Education Manager
Headquarters is in Santa Clara, CA. This is a remote position with heavy travel.
SI-BONE® is focused on helping patients in one of the most under-served, under-diagnosed, and under-treated areas in orthopedics, the sacroiliac (SI) joint. SI-BONE developed an innovative, patented implant to fuse the SI joint. The iFuse Implant System® provides a less invasive alternative to traditional sacroiliac (SI) joint fusion surgery and has been used in over 90,000 procedures to date.

General Responsibilities:
Reports to the Director, Professional Education and conducting all aspects of surgeon training, sales training and medical education
- Ensure that training goals are achieved
- All educational aspects of the product, instruments, surgical procedure, clinical requirements, and sales information
- Support regulatory requirements
- Support fundamental change as to how the medical community views lower back pain and SI-Joint related issues and help position the company as the knowledge leader
- Work with the management team on key strategic business issues and have accountability for training operations
- Responsible for performing all duties in compliance with all applicable worldwide regulatory requirements as included in the scope of the SI-BONE Quality Manual
- The employee must at all times act and conduct company business in an honest, ethical and strictly legal manner, complying with the Code of Conduct, other company policies, the AdvaMed Code and all applicable laws and regulations, whether national, regional, state or local. Specific Responsibilities and Skills:
- Deliver training curriculum and associated materials for continuous improvement with both the surgeon training program and the sales training and development program
- Work under the guidance of the management team to cover first time case coverage and training events
- Establish rapport and a solid working relationship with surgeons, clinical specialists, distributor reps, vendors, management team members and all employees
- Lead day-to-day field operations and maintain field operations calendar
- Maintain the Training Schedule and Surgeon Status List
- In the event of potential non-compliance with applicable standards or regulations (e.g. FDA QSRs, ISO 13485 or ISO 14971), the employee has the authority to hold any product or Quality documentation from shipment or further processing. The employee has the responsibility and authority to report any instances to Quality and/or Regulatory and his respective management team
- Support the SI-BONE Quality System
Knowledge, Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Healthcare or related field required
Expertise and Attributes:
- Currently or recently served as Surgeon Training Manager of a high-growth, medical device organization whose products are marketed to a medical specialty practice and worked in that leadership capacity for a minimum of 3 years. Experience in orthopedics is highly desired, spine experience also a plus
- A passion for supporting an emerging company through product/clinical development, product training and on to commercialization; thereafter, sustaining high growth
- Have a superior functional background in medical devices and training medical practitioners, to implant, support, and sell these devices
- Have a demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and work well with co-workers, surgeons, clinicians, distributor reps and patients
- Have a strong cross-disciplinary understanding of an entire business emphasized on operations, R&D, training, clinical and regulatory, quality assurance, and strategic planning
- Assist in the development of meaningful metrics to appraise rep performance and surgeon adoption rates
- Have a very “hands-on” management style with the interpersonal skills required to manage a successful training team
- Be a pro-active person who attacks problems, displaying initiative and perseverance in order to bring about meaningful change, and to be open and responsive to new ideas
- Be known as a person who has high integrity, sound character, a tremendous work ethic and the passion to succeed
- Knowledge and familiarity of applicable regulations/standards (e.g. ISO 13485, FDA 21 CFR 820, EU MDR 2017/745, ISO 14971) as required to perform the job function
- Strong attention to detail, time management and organizational skills.
- Demonstrates a positive 'can do' attitude.
- Possess a demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and work well with others throughout the Company.
- Possess effective problem-solving skills.
Salary range: $108,000 - 135,000. The compensation range for this position is specific to the location and is in good faith what SI-BONE expects to pay for the position taking into account the wide variety of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including job-related knowledge; skillset; experience, education and training; certifications; and other relevant business and organizational factors.
