The
2025 Field Service Engineer (FSE) Summer Intern position is part of an “Early Talent Strategy” focused on building a pipeline of engineer talent for Field Services. We are looking for motivated Summer Interns interested in pursuing a career in engineering passionate about delivering exceptional service to customers in the field. After college graduation, you are eligible to apply for an open, full-time Field Service Engineer position to launch an exciting career in Field Service Engineering!
Location: Los Angeles, CA
- Visit various Customer Sites and work remotely based in the Los Angeles, CA region. Customer Site visits will be achieved by driving to customer site(s) that are less than 40 miles from your home and/or via a “ride-a-long” ride-share with an experienced FSE.
- No relocation stipend is available.

Summer Intern FSE role will have four (4) major components:
Gain invaluable insights and practical knowledge by observing and learning from experienced FSEs (Field Service Engineers). Understand the intricacies of our business and witness the dedication required to deliver exceptional service to our customers.
Take on a specific project linked to the Field Service Engineering business. This hands-on experience will allow you to apply your skills and contribute to real-world challenges in Field Services.
Showcase your project findings and share your FSE Summer Intern experiences with our Divisional Leadership Team (DLT). This is an opportunity to demonstrate your growth, network, and make an impression within Thermo Fisher Scientific, Inc.
Engage in a meaningful one-day volunteer project within your local community. Contribute to a cause that aligns with our values and leaves a positive impact beyond the internship.
Requirements:
- Available to work full-time (40 hours/week) for 12 weeks (about 3 months) starting on Wednesday, June 4, 2025, and ending on or around, Wednesday, August 20, 2025.
- Field-based, customer-facing position requiring flexibility to travel to meet your Field Service Engineer customer sites daily in assigned region.
- Work side-by-side with Field Service Engineer mentors at customer sites in assigned region.
- Complete assigned project before the end of the Summer Intern Program.
- Represent the Company in a positive, professional manner in all interactions with Thermo Fisher Scientific employees, customers, and representatives.
- Ensure the highest level of customer satisfaction with Thermo Fisher Scientific products and services.
- To qualify, applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States and should not require sponsorship (current or future) for employment visa status. Thermo Fisher does not offer employment in this position to holders of F-1, J-1, H-1, OPT, and CPT Visas for the purpose of obtaining practical experience.
Education
- Must be currently enrolled in an accredited college or university pursuing a bachelor’s degree in engineering and returning to school as a rising Senior required.
- Chemistry, Science, or a related field is preferred.
- Graduating students are eligible for the Summer Intern position only if they return to school the following semester to pursue the next level degree.
- Applicants must have a satisfactory academic record and be in good standing at their respective college or university. This means that you should have maintained a satisfactory GPA and have met all academic requirements set by your institution.
Experience
- Customer Service work experience is a plus.
- Engineering, Robotics, and/or IT work experience is a plus.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
- Knowledge and experience with computer technology including Microsoft Suites (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.), hardware and software applications, etc.
- Self-starter with a powerful desire to learn
- Self-directed with a passion to deliver an outstanding customer experience
- Is curious, inquisitive, and innovative with excellent critical thinking skills
- Ability to manage time to both learn and complete project(s) prior to the end of the Summer Intern Program
- Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
- Ability to identify specific problems, determine desired end-result, and the vital tasks needed for resolution

Compensation And Benefits
The hourly pay range estimated for this position based in California is $14.75–$28.75.
