As the trusted technology partner, essential to the fulfillment of WCB’s strategic objectives, the Business Technology Services (BTS) division works collaboratively and creatively with our partners, to provide secure, innovative technology and data solutions that position WCB Alberta as an industry leader in Worker’s Compensation.
Reporting to the Manager, Cyber Security, the IT Security Analyst II will help drive the development, sustainability, and operations of our Cloud Computing and on-premise network and computing environments. The successful candidate will be responsible for: designing, implementing, and managing security solutions for our complex computing environment; performing risk and threat assessments; participating in Security Operations Center duties; and reviewing security architecture documents as provided by WCB project teams.
Our ideal candidate is self-motivated, possesses strong written and verbal communication skills, has a track record of successfully delivering complex projects on time, and possesses a strong background in Software as a Service (SaaS), Azure Active Directory and Microsoft Teams security design, implementation, and administration.
Your responsibilities:
- Troubleshoot and implement solutions for complex computing systems with a focus on Azure, Microsoft Teams and other SaaS products.
- Work with individual technical teams to develop their understanding of IAM in the context of their platforms.
- Develop new Security, Incident Response and SaaS/IAM standards as required to support WCB initiatives and response to changes in technology.
- Perform threat and risk assessments.
- Perform security reviews and audits against established configurations, policies, or procedures.
- The implementation and maintenance of common security solutions in an enterprise environment.
- DRP/BCP planning and testing.
Your experience and skills:
- A degree or diploma in a computer related discipline with some experience in an Information Security field.
- Experience with Azure and Microsoft Teams Security Features and Design, combined experience with cloud technologies, providers, and application design considerations is essential.
- Experience with the following security technologies: SIEM tools, Intrusion Prevention and Detection Systems, Endpoint Detection and Response Tools, Network Access and Control (NAC) Tools, Web Filtering Products, and Vulnerability Scanning Tools is required.
- Strong analytical skills, problem solving, and creative thinking combined with organization, time management, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to effectively participate in projects, proof of concepts and provide security advice is required.
- Work independently to initiate and improve work processes to increase efficiencies.
- Certifications including CISSP and/or CISA are preferred.

Salary: $71,502 to $84,103 per annum (Pay Grade 10)
Final candidates for this position are required to undergo a security clearance as a condition of employment. Successful candidate must reside in Alberta and be able to work in person in our Edmonton downtown or Calgary office as required by their position.
