Are you qualified as a Lawyer in Australia and keen to use your writing skills in publishing? Practical Law Australia is growing and we are searching for a Lawyer Editor to join a supportive team.
As a Lawyer Editor you will form part of our Central Editorial team and will work in conjunction with more experienced colleagues to interpret and explain legal, practice and market developments to our customers through online content.
You'll also edit content in accordance with house style and tone and with Practical Law writing principles, ensuring consistency in terminology, formatting and style across all Practical Law materials.
About the Role
In this opportunity as Lawyer Editor, you will:
Monitor and identify developments to cover in the Practical Law current awareness product offering.
With support and supervision from colleagues, draft new content for online publication.
Conduct research projects and present results with proper analysis and in a succinct manner.
With support and supervision from colleagues, maintain content to ensure that it is up to date and reflects current legal and market practice, and is of the quality and scope that meets business objectives and customer needs.
With support and supervision from colleagues, respond to queries from customers and provide support to others to ensure that questions are answered and published appropriately.
Provide support to the Practical Law editorial and writing teams.
Edit content in accordance with house style and verify cases, legislation and quotations.
About You
You’re a fit for the role of Lawyer Editor if your background includes:
You have excellent writing and communication skills.
You are able to work independently and as part of a team, can work to deadlines and are able to prioritize and manage own workload.
You are able to assimilate and apply new complex information.
You have proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
You show excellent attention to detail.
You are comfortable with technology and able to adapt to new technology quickly.
You have an Undergraduate Australian Law Degree.
