Associate Attorney
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform work for determination, completion, and application of export license applications for the export agencies of India and other applicable export regulatory agencies;
- Interacts directly with all departments, customers, freight forwarders and brokers to resolve international trade compliance issues;
- Work with the KBR ITCO to develop and implement procedures and training programs and participate in maintaining the KBR export compliance management program;
- Responsible for maintaining current knowledge of India, U.S., and other applicable trade compliance regulations, managing dynamic workload including license administration, foreign person visits, classification issues, export determinations, and other trade related matters;
- Provide effective integration of trade compliance procedures into business processes;
- Identifying areas of trade compliance risks, conducting risk assessments and developing action plans to eliminate and/or mitigate risks;
- Managing compliance audits and investigations and implementing any necessary corrective action;
- Serving as corporate liaison with government agencies;
- Managing and retaining export records in accordance with applicable laws and regulations;
- Providing legal support and counseling to the Business Units and Corporate functions, and helping them assess legal and regulatory risks around the world;
- Providing guidance and counseling regarding economic sanctions and antiboycott regulations; and
- Any other duties assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
- India LLB – licensed to practice law
- 3+ years experience
- Knowledge of the Foreign Trade (Development & Regulation) Act of 1992 and India's Export Import (EXIM) Policy, the Harmonized Tariff Schedule, and the U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations and Export Administration Regulations is required.
- Customs Broker license holders preferred but not required.
