Job Overview

We are thrilled to invite applications for the position of Senior Project Engineer or Project Manager specializing in Body-in-White (BIW) within our esteemed organization. In this role, you will leverage your extensive expertise to innovate and enhance Vehicle Body Systems Manufacturing Processes at our client facilities situated in Ohio and Michigan.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of Body Shop Manufacturing processes, focusing on the sequence of operations, welding equipment, robotics, automation, tooling, and material handling.
  • Provide advanced technical support to engineering teams by evaluating tooling designs, process flows, and spatial layouts, ensuring effective process and tooling design.
  • Oversee the fabrication, construction, integration, commissioning, and installation of Body Shop equipment and tools, driving successful project launches and ongoing improvements for high-quality assembly production.
  • Offer expert engineering guidance and leadership during the installation phase at vendor fabrication shops and client manufacturing locations.
  • Serve as the principal source of technical direction and oversight for third-party vendors.
  • Collaborate effectively with engineering teams, clients, fabricators, and plant personnel to cultivate robust working relationships.
  • Engage in remote, video conference, and in-person meetings to monitor project updates and progress.
  • Travel to manufacturing sites and build shops as necessary, with potential travel up to 50% within Michigan and Ohio.
  • Review CAD drawings and participate in design evaluations to ensure compliance with project specifications.
  • Assist in managing project schedules and timelines, providing critical input and guidance throughout the process.

Required Skills

  • Proficient in MS Office applications (Word, Excel); familiarity with CAD systems and MS Project is highly advantageous.
  • Strong project management and leadership capabilities.
  • Technical proficiency in Body Systems Process Engineering.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in Vehicle Manufacturing Body Systems Process Engineering is essential.
  • At least 5 years of experience in leading or managing significant OEM projects, particularly in body process manufacturing (welding, dispensing, throughput, etc.) and body shop tooling vendor management.
  • A Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent training/experience is strongly preferred.
