Job Overview

Join our esteemed Database Engineering team, where you will be at the forefront of Distributed Database management, Automation, and Business Intelligence technologies. As a Principal DevOps Engineer specializing in database automation, you will have a significant influence on optimizing and managing our database infrastructure, thereby enhancing operational efficiency, security, and performance across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and oversee Infrastructure as Code (IaC) utilizing Terraform to facilitate streamlined provisioning and configuration of database environments.
  • Develop and sustain automation scripts in Python, along with Ansible playbooks and Chef cookbooks, to optimize essential database management functions.
  • Build, enhance, and refine frameworks for database automation, ensuring exceptional standards of reliability and performance.
  • Manage and refine CI/CD pipelines with tools such as Jenkins and GitLab, closely collaborating with DevOps and Infrastructure teams for seamless operations.
  • Monitor automated processes to ensure database uptime and security, proactively identifying and resolving any issues that arise.
  • Establish comprehensive standards and procedures for Cloud Data Platforms, contributing to the adoption of best practices in Cloud design and implementation.
  • Participate in strategic conversations regarding Cloud-based data solutions, offering insights and recommendations for innovative cloud infrastructure strategies.
  • Stay informed about industry trends and technologies, integrating advancements to continuously enhance our automation capabilities.
  • Lead projects effectively, focusing on achieving key milestones while maintaining high-quality standards with minimal supervision.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools, particularly Terraform.
  • Extensive experience with automation tools such as Ansible, Chef, and AWS Systems Manager.
  • Strong Python scripting and development skills.
  • Experience managing CI/CD pipelines with Jenkins, GitLab, or similar tools.
  • Solid understanding of Unix/Linux operating systems and AWS Cloud architecture.
  • Familiarity with AWS Aurora Postgres and Oracle databases.
  • Proven experience in automating database provisioning within AWS environments.
  • Ability to independently research, design, and implement innovative automation solutions.
  • Demonstrated capacity to navigate complex environments, effectively addressing business and customer needs through strategic problem-solving.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience in a relevant discipline.
  • 8-10+ years of professional experience in a related role, showcasing extensive knowledge and expertise in database management and automation.

Work Model
