Day In The Life Of Engineering Manager
The Software Engineering Manager - eMaint is responsible for building excellent cross-functional software engineering teams to support the development and delivery of the industry leading SaaS eMaint CMMS solution. In a typical day the individual will split their time between guiding technical decision making on product design, consulting and coaching on industry best practices for the delivery of enterprise SaaS software, and engaging in 1-1 mentoring and development with their team members.
While they are technically credible and know the details of what engineers work on, they own the delivery of their product’s commitments and actively support performance improvements and career growth opportunities for their direct reports. They adapt departmental plans and priorities to meet short-term goals and operational challenges. This individual will report directly to the Senior Engineering Manager.
Responsibilities
- Fostering a performance culture based on empowerment and ownership
- Driving employee engagement and sustaining a culture of continuous improvement
- Coaching employee’s through obstacles and challenges with an ethos of empowerment
- Through defining and observing KPIs and metrics, owns improvement initiatives related to quality, performance, and engagement
- Executing continuous data-driven improvement processes to improve quality, time to market, and delivery on quality attributes
- Actively influence the product and technology roadmaps by leveraging
- technical proposals and quantifying technical debt
- Partnering with peers, Software Architects, and Product Owners to deliver resilient, scalable, connected SaaS solutions
- Through prioritization, planning, risk assessment, and analysis of dependencies and capacity, enable meeting product milestones
- Facilitating communication, collaboration, and problem-solving with teams and stakeholders

Experience
Required
- At least three years of experience as an engineering manager
- As three years of experience developing and delivering commercially successful SaaS solutions
- At least three years of experience developing software using Agile methodologies.
- Demonstrable understanding of product market fit for a product for which you have been the engineering leader
Desired
- Use of Scaled Agile frameworks.
- Experience working with and leading a multi-national development team.
