Job description

Job Summary: The Curriculum Design Specialist is responsible for developing and implementing and maintaining training materials and resources to support company strategy and initiatives. Specifically, the Curriculum Design Specialist assists in creating training materials that include but are not limited to courses, workshop materials, video scripts, drills, role-plays, and other practice scenarios. Additionally, the specialist will present and recommend course design, technology, and instruction delivery options. Collaboration with cross-functional teams to understand objectives and impact on retail onboarding programs is crucial for success in this role.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Support the organization’s educational needs by developing formal educational or training programs that align with business objectives or company initiatives, including classes, e-learning coursework, workshops, video concepts, and/or other web-based materials.
  • Partner with subject matter experts to design relevant, engaging, and accurate learning materials.
  • Listen, understand, articulate, and write complex educational materials for end-user understanding and adoption, with adult learning top of mind.
  • Research best practices and recommend course design, technology, and instruction delivery options to ensure effective educational and training programs.
  • Provide analytical support for developing training programs, learning strategies, educational policies, or coursework standards.
  • Observe, solicit and collect information from executives, subject matter experts, and collaborators across multiple departments to enhance or improve programs.
  • Reviews and edits materials to improve clarity while ensuring messages are targeted for the intended audience.
  • Create and revise written material to meet department standards and satisfy the organization’s and end user’s needs, placing priority on adult learning design.
  • Present and train facilitation leaders on goals, organizational alignment, content, style, and program deliverables while representing the department professionally.
  • Complete all required training modules and certifications prior to the due date.
  • Ensure all safety policies and procedures are followed to ensure a safe work environment for all.
  • Communicate professionally with all internal and external contacts.
  • Follow all Company policies and execute Company standards on appearance and functionality as well as appropriate brand representation.
  • Communicate any concerns or issues to leadership to ensure proper efficiency of department and company operations.

Non-Essential Responsibilities

  • Spend time in retail meetings or store locations gathering feedback and observing customer interactions.
  • Participate in special projects and perform other duties as required.
  • Regularly review and update education assets.
  • Participate in meetings with vendors, corporate departments, and field departments, as needed.
  • Identify areas of inefficiency and other opportunities for improvements in processes and documentation.
  • Execute company initiatives and other activities requested by supervisor.
  • Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities.
  • Contribute ideas on ways to optimize or improve the team, the department, and the Company.

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree Business, Education, related field, and/or equivalent experience preferred

Professional Experience

  • 5+ Years Retail sales and/or leadership required
  • 3+ Years Supporting and sustaining large-scale, nationwide learning programs through curriculum design, preferably in a retail environment preferred
  • 3+ Years Training in a blended learning environment for a nationwide, omni channel organization preferred

Pay Range:

$60,000 - 66,000.
