Job Overview

This is a short-term consulting opportunity for a customer based in the UK, requiring onsite work in Oxford, England, for 3 days (24 hours) per week. The role focuses on rebuilding the Certificate Management system with an emphasis on security enhancements and integration.

Job Functions

  • Lead the rebuild of the Certificate Management system, focusing on NTLM relay attack prevention and OS upgrades.
  • Implement security improvements and enhancements to better manage certificates across the organization.
  • Discover and document current settings and policies within the Microsoft Certificate Authorities (CAs).
  • Review and assess nine overly permissive Active Directory Certificate Services (ADCS) certificate templates.
  • Collaborate with teams to ensure Windows devices are properly integrated into the certificate system.
  • Review optional tools for certificate management enhancements and automation.
  • Commission new certificate template configurations and set up autoenrollment for server certificates in Group Policy Objects (GPO).
  • Refresh Group Policy on all servers and workstations.
  • Recommend and implement additional tools to improve security and certificate management based on project scope.

  • Deep expertise in certificate management systems, with a strong focus on security.
  • Experienced in mitigating NTLM relay attacks and implementing OS-level upgrades.
  • Capable of leading a full system rebuild for certificate management, ensuring proper integration with Windows devices.
  • Adaptable to a hybrid work environment with occasional on-site work as required.

Technologies Used:

  • Microsoft Certificate Manager
  • Sectigo, AppViewX, or similar certificate management tools
  • Windows Server systems

Experience Requested:

  • Extensive experience working with certificate management systems, particularly with NTLM relay attack prevention.
  • Proven track record of successful system rebuilds and security improvements.
  • Familiarity with integrating Windows devices into certificate systems.

Education Requested:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Security, Computer Science, or a related field (preferred).

Certifications Requested:

  • Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate.
  • PKI-related certifications or similar qualifications in certificate management.
