We are looking for a highly skilled Accountant with experience in bank reconciliation and bank statements to join our team supporting the federal agency. The Accountant will manage and reconcile bank statements, oversee accounts, and ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance. This role requires a strong understanding of federal financial regulations, excellent analytical skills, and hands-on experience with government banking protocols.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct thorough reconciliations of bank statements, including complex multi-account reconciliations.
  • Investigate and resolve discrepancies by analyzing transactions and working closely with banking partners and internal teams.
  • Ensure all reconciliations comply with federal regulations and accounting standards.
  • Utilize Bank systems to manage financial transactions, balances, and cash flow.
  • Coordinate with staff to ensure timely and accurate processing of deposits, payments, and transfers.
  • Provide accurate and timely reports of cash positions and assist in cash management decision-making.
  • Prepare, review, and submit financial reports, ensuring accurate reflection of reconciled accounts.
  • Document reconciliation procedures and maintain records of adjustments for audit readiness.
  • Assist in monthly and quarterly financial close processes by verifying reconciled balances align with general ledger accounts.
  • Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard financial integrity and ensure compliance with federal accounting guidelines.
  • Conduct regular audits of transactions and reconciliations to identify process improvements and mitigate risks.
  • Work with internal and external auditors to facilitate audits and respond to any audit inquiries.
  • Perform trend analysis on transaction data to identify irregularities or potential fraud indicators.
  • Provide support to finance management in special projects and ad-hoc reporting requests.
  • Assist in budget preparation by providing reconciled data and cash flow insights.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field; CPA or CGFM certification is preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of professional accounting experience with at least 2 years in bank reconciliation for government accounts.
  • Strong attention to detail with advanced Excel skills and experience with federal accounting software.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and reconciliation skills.
  • Familiarity with federal financial regulations, policies, and internal controls.
  • Effective communication skills for collaborating with team members, banking partners, and auditors.
  • Must have 2 years of U.S. Bank experience.
