Under the direction of the Manager, IT Enterprise Infrastructure Services, this individual provides support of hosted data center services. Responsibilities include but are not limited managing operating systems, administration software, and job schedules dedicated to hosting of iSeries applications and business services, data and related technologies.
A successful person in this role will take the lead to manage jobs scheduled within the Robot suite of applications, with specific tasks including but not limited to:
- Identifying root cause for job failures and remediate to restore operations.
- Update, maintain and optimize jobs in order to ensure the healthy and high performing iSeries environment.
- Identify, plan and execute areas of opportunity where efforts can be further automated to reduce administrative work (account creation, ERP profile provisioning, etc.).
- Institute processes and technical controls to prevent job failures where possible and institute self-healing scripts to prevent unnecessary business disruptions.
- Work with application owners to institute corrective actions to prevent job failures.
Work with your peers and the helpdesk team to automate common tasks related to:
- Profile creation / disablement / termination.
- ERP role assignment / deprovisioning
Environment health monitoring and alerting.

Essential Responsibilities:
- Daily administration of IBM iSeries operating system, management tools and business software.
- Assist in installation, configuration and maintenance of IBM iSeries based software.
- Develop, document, and maintain procedures for system utilities such as backup/restore, performance tuning and configuration of application environments.
- Load and test operating system and application software releases and fixes in both development/test and production environments, load application software fixes.
- Provides ongoing direction and technical support for the iSeries environment to assure cost effective computer operation.
- Provides system application programming support utilizing RPG, CL, and System APIs.
- Recognizes and identifies potential areas where existing policies and procedures require change, or where new policies need to be developed, and makes recommendations.
- Provides assistance as required to organizations outside of the enterprise to improve internal procedures that may be advantageous to the enterprise.
- Ensures security standards are being met, and takes appropriate steps when deficiencies are uncovered.
- Assists in disaster recovery testing exercise planning and execution as requested.
- Remediates incident and services requests.
- Drafts operational documentation as required.
- Primary support for the following applications & hardware:
- iSeries system performance & capacity planning
- iSeries Firmware & PTF administration
- QDV faxing solution.
- HMC support
- Digital Certificates
- iSeries printer administration
- Enforcive Enterprise Security for IBM I administration
- Robot Scheduler Job Configuration, Administration and Troubleshooting
Expectations of the role include but are not limited to:
- Maintain continuous availability of the environment and contribute to improvement practices.
- Perform infrastructure troubleshooting, resolve issues, and document solutions.
- Make configuration changes to keep the infrastructure secure and reliable.
- Participate in data protection discussions with business users, provide input and make recommendations on solutions to support internal users.
- Be a team player and participate in an on-call rotation.

Position Requirements:
- College Degree in computer science, information sciences or related field and 3-5 years of experience; or 5-8 years relevant experience.
- Experience with iSeries operating system(s) (V7R3, V7R1, V6R1, V5R4).
- Experience in RPG & Control Language scripting is preferred.
- Knowledge of automation and monitoring tools is required.
- Experience with HelpSystems applications (Robot/Schedule, Robot/Console, Robot/ Network, and Robot/ Alert).
- Third party application support experience is preferred.
- Additional working hours as required.
- Participate in an on-call rotation.
- Carry an ITT assigned phone 24x7 and be available for escalations as needed.
- Sitting for extended periods of time.
- Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and to handle other computer components.

Equal Pay Act Range:
Annual Salary Range $72,600 to $108,800 Plus Benefits and Incentive Plans.
