Job Description

The Payroll Specialist is responsible for ensuring the timely and accurate processing of the Weekly, Fortnightly and Monthly pay runs. You will also responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the payroll system data in accordance with applicable Federal and State legislation as well as Montu Internal Controls.

Key Responsibilities

  • Payroll Processing:
    • Accurately process and reconcile employee timesheets and salaries in line with Montu’s contractual obligations and employment legislation.
    • Calculate and process adjustments, including salary increases, bonuses and other compensation components in line with Montu contractual obligations.
    • Calculate and process termination payments within legislative deadlines.
    • Calculate and process expense reimbursements approved through expense system in line with Montu policies.
    • Accurately process third party and legislative deductions and payments in line with Montu legislative obligations.
    • Ensure accurate accruals of leave entitlements, superannuation and other employee benefits in the payroll system.
  • Payroll Queries:
    • Address all general payroll queries from employees, providing general guidance on pay interpretation and Montu policy.
    • Resolve payroll-related issues promptly and efficiently or escalate to management where appropriate.
  • Records and Systems Maintenance:
    • Maintain accurate employee data within the payroll system assuring alignment with the HRIS system by regularly auditing the interface and fixing errors.
    • Maintain accurate record keeping of all payroll related correspondence and supporting documentation in line with Montu internal controls.
    • Assist in any system maintenance upgrades, testing or implementations.

Qualifications
  • Minimum of 3 years Payroll Processing work experience.
  • Comprehensive understanding of Modern Awards and National Employment Standards (NES).
  • Knowledge of general payroll practices, procedures, operations, and legislation.
  • Strong experience with manual payroll calculations 
  • Experience with Employment Hero is preferable.
  • Experience processing weekly, fortnightly and monthly pay run cycles for company size of 800+ employees.
  • Advanced computer skills including, Microsoft Word, Excel and Google Sheets.
  • Excellent attention to detail and data accuracy.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to investigate issues and find solutions.
  • High level of integrity and discretion when handling sensitive payroll information.
  • Ability to work as part of a team as well as autonomously when required.
