Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Internal Audit Control Manager with a strong background in mortgage servicing to join our esteemed organization. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for ensuring adherence to federal, state, and government-sponsored enterprise (GSE) regulations. Your expertise will be instrumental in advancing our quality control and risk management initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Regularly maintain and refresh regulatory compliance matrices for federal, state, and GSE requirements on a quarterly basis.
  • Offer compliance insights for internal audits and designated projects.
  • Assist auditing teams in pinpointing relevant compliance coverage for audits.
  • Formulate testing procedures for regulatory criteria and evaluate audit outcomes.
  • Participate in compliance change management meetings to remain updated on departmental developments.
  • Conduct compliance training sessions for personnel.
  • Provide actionable recommendations for enhancing audit practices and protocols.
  • Engage in the annual risk assessment process and aid in developing the audit plan for assigned sectors.
  • Oversee special projects as directed by management.
  • Manage audit engagements, which encompass risk evaluations, audit planning, testing, control assessments, and follow-ups to guarantee compliance with established policies and regulations.
  • Foster strong relationships with business process owners and leadership.
  • Collaborate with audit colleagues to detect emerging control challenges and report promptly.
  • Assist in the continuous analysis of risk patterns to ensure suitable audit coverage.
  • Stay informed on evolving regulatory changes and market dynamics impacting the business.
  • Aid in the implementation of automation solutions to optimize the audit process.
  • Support team members in developing advanced analytics, diagnostic reports, and tools.
  • Utilize sound judgment in evaluating risk during business decisions, upholding our commitment to compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

Required Skills

  • Comprehensive understanding of regulatory procedures and requirements pertinent to mortgage servicing.
  • Acquainted with compliance risk management principles and solid governance practices.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, capable of presenting complex matters convincingly.
  • Proficient project management abilities to manage tasks, monitor progress, and report status effectively.
  • Self-driven with a knack for risk analysis and proactive problem identification.
  • Strong attention to detail combined with independent decision-making capabilities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft applications, including Outlook, Excel, Word, SharePoint, MS Project, PowerPoint, and Visio.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline is mandatory; advanced degrees or certifications (CPA, CIA, CISA, CRCM, CAMS, MBA, etc.) are highly regarded.
  • A minimum of 7 years of pertinent experience is essential.
  • Demonstrated experience in Mortgage Servicing, Quality Assurance/Quality Control, or Risk Management is critical.
