Job Overview

As an integral member of our team, you will apply your expertise in intricate renewable energy real estate transactions to further our mission of enhancing sustainable energy solutions for the grid.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as a subject matter expert in lease negotiations, land options, purchase agreements, and easements/entitlements for utility-scale renewable projects, including solar, wind, and energy storage.
  • Draft, modify, and negotiate all legal land agreements associated with utility-scale renewable projects.
  • Collaborate with the Real Estate team to perform high-level title, survey, and mineral due diligence, encompassing research on land use requirements and restrictions.
  • Take ownership of the financial closing process for renewable land development transactions.
  • Coordinate with both internal and external stakeholders involved in land acquisition and related project financing legal initiatives.

Required Skills

  • 3+ years of legal experience in large infrastructure land development transactions, preferably as a licensed attorney in a company focused on grid-connected utility-scale renewables; experience at a reputable law firm is highly desirable.
  • Solid experience with land title issues, mineral rights, and the project development permitting process.
  • Proven capability to draft and review real estate documents, including purchase/sales agreements, lease terms, easements, and covenants.
  • Strong proficiency in land negotiations and complex commercial real estate transactions.
  • Familiarity with the utility-scale renewables lifecycle, including interconnection, permitting, and PPA negotiations, is preferred.
