Job Overview

We are excited to announce an opportunity for a dedicated Senior Underwriter to join our thriving team in a fully remote capacity. This position is an integral part of a well-respected organization that is currently expanding its operations. Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate closely with the Lead Underwriter to manage the underwriting and profitability of a varied portfolio, including both new business and renewals, with the goal of meeting or surpassing established targets.
  • Evaluate submissions for new business to confirm risk eligibility, ensuring all requisite underwriting documentation is complete and proper pricing is applied.
  • Conduct analysis of loss runs and determine loss ratios, leveraging this data to guide underwriting and quoting processes for new and renewal business.
  • Draft referrals for accounts that exceed your authority, presenting these to the Lead Underwriter for consideration and approval, progressively advancing your responsibilities in line with experience.
  • Aim to achieve new business hit ratios while maintaining high retention rates for renewals.
  • Provide mentorship and technical guidance to new underwriting team members, ensuring compliance with underwriting protocols and documentation standards.
  • Collaborate with Underwriting Support to issue precise policies and endorsements, undertaking thorough reviews of complex policies as required.
  • Engage in business development endeavors that align with our strategic objectives.
  • Establish and nurture strong relationships with assigned production sources to enhance client retention and build valuable alliances.
  • Maintain effective relationships with carriers, ensuring their trust in your underwriting expertise.
  • Work alongside the Lead Underwriter to elevate our organization's profile, including participation in broker marketing initiatives.
  • Uphold performance benchmarks related to response times, quoting, binding, issuance, endorsements, and other underwriting duties.
  • Develop expertise in primary and excess coverage for private and nonprofit entities, remaining informed on emerging issues within management liability.

Required Skills

  • Exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication abilities.
  • Strong analytical skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and effective computer skills.
  • Demonstrated negotiation prowess and a proven record of successfully closing business opportunities.
  • Availability for minimal business travel (0% - 20%).

Qualifications

  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in underwriting management liability (D&O) insurance.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business or a related field, or equivalent experience preferred.
  • CPCU or ARM designation is advantageous.
  • Experience in specialty lines (D&O/E&O) insurance broking is a plus.
