Join our innovative team dedicated to advancing educational equity for youth engaged in foster care. We aim to foster early literacy through a culturally responsive curriculum that meets the unique needs of these children. By combining literacy development with social and emotional learning, we adopt a trauma-informed approach that supports holistic child growth.

Key Responsibilities

In This Role, You Will

  • Implement assessment and intervention tools for a caseload of K-3 youth and their caregivers during in-person tutoring sessions.
  • Utilize standardized assessment tools to evaluate literacy and social-emotional learning, identifying learning gaps.
  • Assess the home environment to create conducive learning opportunities (e.g., establishing a cozy reading nook).
  • Collaborate with Education Support staff to craft plans addressing additional learning needs (e.g., IEPs).
  • Work with leadership to customize curriculum routines based on assessment data and caregiver feedback.
  • Deliver individualized core tutoring curricula through frequent, in-person sessions with students, typically at their homes.
  • Maintain adherence to the curriculum model and apply a trauma-informed approach in all work.
  • Collaborate with Education Support staff to communicate and engage caregivers regarding youth progress and educational growth strategies.
  • Regularly engage with community providers, including school staff and mental health professionals.
  • Advocate for youth’s needs during educational goal meetings (e.g., IEP meetings).
  • Complete necessary documentation, including intake paperwork and service plans.
  • Actively participate in both internal and external meetings, collaborating with colleagues and other providers as assigned.
  • Adapt responsibilities as the program evolves and responds to ongoing assessments and youth needs.

  • Effective oral and written communication abilities.
  • A solid understanding of and competence in serving BIPOC youth.
  • Robust organizational and planning capabilities.

  • A flexible, entrepreneurial mindset with a thoughtful approach to learning and growth.
  • High professionalism in interactions with internal and external contacts.

Qualifications
